Denver ZooVisitors can view 3,500 different animals, representing over 650 species. That means a rare look at exotic animals like amur leopards, king cobras, black rhinos, coral reef fish, elephants, zebras, vampire bats, gorillas and more. Updated habitats have improved the lives of animals and created a richer experience for Denver Zoo visitors. With naturalistic habitats like the new Predator Ridge as well as Tropical Discovery, Primate Panorama and the Dragons of Komodo exhibit, the Zoo is working to enhance the lives of some of the world’s most endangered species. Not only are some current exhibits unique to Denver Zoo, but unique in the wild as well - 188 zoo species are considered threatened or endangered, and three species are actually extinct in the wild. That’s why Denver Zoo continues to foster an education-based approach to the appreciation of wildlife and conservation of our precious natural resources. Walking Level: Moderate

Steamboat Springs Balloon Festival (Over Night Trip)

The Hot Air Balloon Rodeo and Art in the Park offer artistry and color both on canvases and in the air making them a staple of Steamboat Springs, Colorado in the summertime.

Get to the launch grounds early to see the balloons inflate, and if you’re lucky you may even be asked to help crew. The rodeo portion consists of fun contests like dipping into Bald Eagle Lake and since balloon pilots can be pretty competitive, you’re guaranteed a good show. Once the balloons are in the air, sip on coffee and eat a yummy crepe from one of the vendors as you watch more balloons dot the Yampa Valley sky. Afterwards, head over to Art in the Park and visit with one hundred-forty artist vendors, catch some live entertainment, and enjoy lots of different foods! We will be staying at the Rabbit Ears Hotel in downtown Steamboat, an easy walk to all the restaurants, activities and Art in the Park offerings. So mark your calendar for the most colorful and anticipated weekend of the summer! Walking Level: Moderate

Healthy Skin Care Habits for Teens & Young Girls

Taking care of your skin by the time you’re a teen is optimal, but kids as young as eight can be taught to take good care of their skin. The biggest thing is educating your children about everyday sun protection and good basic skin care for their face and body. The best way to keep skin healthy is to start young. Up to 80% of lasting sun damage occurs before the age of 18. The goal of this class is to make sure that your child develops smart skin habits now so that it’s a natural habit. While parents may not be pleased to see their teen wearing makeup, it’s inevitable that teenage girls may want to experiment with cosmetics. This class will teach your teen about makeup and how to apply a tasteful, appropriate amount. Taught by Robina McWilliams, owner of Ekte Skincare.Register by: 3 days prior to classGrades 5–9 Min 4/Max 8 #213595.01 Thu May 30 5–6:45pm $45.02 Thu Jun 27 5–6:45pm $45.03 Thu Jul 25 5–6:45pm $45.04 Thu Aug 29 5–6:45pm $45CRC

Challenge Island Lands on Shark Tooth Island

Challenge Island is a whimsical, wildly popular summer camp that promotes creative and critical thinking skills in children. Loosely based on a well-known reality TV show, Challenge Island has kids dividing into cooperative tribes and taking on a vast array of exciting challenges set on action-packed thematic “islands”. Open ended questions make this camp child directed rather than teacher driven. Each tribe will have a different outcome and we will share what we learned in our friendly tribal council meetings. Our innovative programming reinforces STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and core language arts skills But let’s keep that last part under our hats, because as far as kids are concerned Challenge Island is just plain fun!On Shark Tooth Island each child will take home a real shark tooth necklace!Register by: 1 week beforeAges: 6–12 Min 5/Max 12 #213521.01Sun Jun 2– Jul 21 4:45–5:45pm $88CRC, Aspen Room

Challenger British Soccer CampChallenger has developed a unique camp program that offers players a much broader soccer skills experience. Camp coaches are selected and trained in the UK. They are professional, outgoing, have a cool “British” accent and a genuine interest in helping each participant develop and provide them with a very memorable and positive experience.

Challenger’s NEW 1,000 Touches Curriculum has been created to address the key areas of the sport. Participants will learn the basic skills of soccer; such as the ABC’s (agility, balance and coordination), The Moves, Freestyle Soccer, Dribbling, Passing/Receiving, Shooting, Heading and Tackling/Defending. The more time the players spend in contact with the ball the quicker they will master important core skills. The British Soccer Camp program also provides a unique cultural experience for the players, highlighted in the Camp World Cup. The coaches use this daily tournament to teach the players about life, customs and traditions of other countries. The campers are asked to make up soccer chants, wear the team colors of their country, bring flags and learn as much as they can about the country they represent.

Camp includes a ball, a t-shirt, a personal player evaluation and a giant soccer poster.Register by: Jun 7th to receive a FREE British Soccer Jersey ($40 value)
