What a wonderful way to celebrate the opening of our oval! We had celebrity guests, including Steve Moneghetti and royal family members, we had 350 dancers, dancing up a storm and we raised $4500 which will go towards further improvements of our school grounds. Thank you so much to Travis Poyner who coordinated the opening ceremony and to Simone Byrne, the convenor of the School Council Fundraising group, for coordinating the Walkathon! National Conversation with Principals Karen will be in Canberra for the remainder of the week, participating in the third national principals’ forum, A National Conversation with Principals 2012. This event will be an opportunity for a number of principals to meet and engage with the Australian Government Minister for School Education. It will also provide an opportunity for the Australian Government to further outline its policies for school education and facilitate discussion and feedback. The one and a half day event will explore key topics of the education reform agenda. I am sure Karen will have lots to share with us on her return! Mothers’ Day Stall Our Mothers’ Day Stall is on again, and we are asking for donations of gifts with a value between $2 and $5 to be left at the office. Thank you for your support. This exciting new play area – a grounded timber boat in a sea of sand - was built by the 15 members and 4 team leaders from the Ballarat/Wimmera Worldskills National Team. The project was a team building exercise, in preparation for the Worldskills National Competitions, which will be held in Sydney in September. The members of the team volunteered approximately 400 hours to build our boat and we are thrilled with the result! A huge thank you to Danielle Masters, and Travis Poyner, as the convenor of the Grounds committee from School Council, for all the hours, energy and enthusiasm they put into making the project so successful!
