Presentation Day Assemblies – save the dates
Please save the date for your child’s Presentation Day Assembly to be held later this term:
Monday 10 December: 9:30am – 11am for Early Stage 1 (Kindergarten)
Tuesday 11 December: 9:30am – 11am for Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2)
Wednesday 12 December: 9:30am – 11am for Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4)
Thursday 13 December: 9:30am – 11am for Stage 3 (Years 5 and 6)
Tuesday 18 December: Year 6 Graduation Assembly and Stage 3 Disco evening
This year, we are changing the award structure for our Presentation Day Assemblies. The change will be
that all years from Kinder to Year 6 will be selecting seven award winners per class. This is different to
previous years where all students in K-2 received a Certificate of Achievement and only Years 3-6
received class awards. The change reflects our focus on Growth Mindset and Resilience. The seven
awards consist of two academic achievement awards, two achievement in any Key Learning Area, two
teacher nominated awards (can be for improvement, application, growth mindset or other reason) and
one citizenship award.
School Uniform
Thank you for your efforts in dressing students in our summer uniform this term. They look smart. Here
are a few reminders:
Sport shoes may only be worn with the sports uniform, black shoes must be worn with the school
uniform.
Long sleeved tops must not be worn under tunics or short sleeved shirts. For warmth, student
should wear a school jacket or jumper. Tights or leggings are not part of the summer uniform and
must not be worn. Girls wear white socks and boys wear grey socks.

K-6 BOOK CHARACTER PARADE
Wednesday 7 November 2018
9:00 am – 10:30 am
Dear Parents and Carers,
As part of our celebrations for Children’s Book Week, Lindfield Public School will be holding its
annual Book Character Parade on Wednesday 7 November 2018. The parade will take place near
the pool area and start as soon as possible after 9am. Parents and carers are welcome to attend and are
asked to keep the path in front of the pool seats and the stage itself clear to allow room for the parade.
All classes will take turns parading around the outside of the playground and across the stage, so there
will be plenty of opportunities for photos!
Costumes do not need to be extravagant. If you are looking for inspiration, this year’s Children’s Book
Week theme is ‘Find Your Treasure’. If possible, bring the book along or print out the front cover! Any
props such as baskets, wands, walking sticks, glasses are welcome during the parade. There are to be
NO toy weapons (swords, Nerf guns, etc).
We are not requesting a gold coin donation.
The classroom teachers will be choosing the ‘best dressed’ student in their class for an award.
We hope you can join us for this enjoyable event!
Kind regards,
Renee Chapman and Ros Fuller

Coral
Coral sits in sky blue ocean Spread across mossy rocks.
Woosh, the daily pass of clownfish Splash past leaving a trail of bubbly water.
Seaweed surrounds the multi-coloured bombs. Rays of sunlight warm water And slowly draining colour.
Still coral sits beautifully in the peaceful ocean. By Nina C
A Turtle’s Life
The young hatchlings emerge from the sand.
Climbing out of the nest, rushing to get to the ocean. As they scuttle along the sand the birds come and scoop them up,
one by one.
As one turtle manages to glide towards the ocean, it swims far out in the bright blue ocean
SPLASH it enjoys the world it just came into.
When you go swimming with these beautiful creatures You can hear its heart beating in a sing song tune
That is majestic and impossible not to adore It has a friendly soul and a gentle nature.
The love it holds is unbeatable.
It’s like a magnet pulling you towards it. Its body is covered in beautiful colours and patterns. It lives a lovely life until the mad men come.
It sees a dark figure above. SPLOSH it tries to swim away, but a net holds it back… The creature is dragged upwards. Before it takes its final blink it remembers the lovely life it had, before
the mad men took that life away. By Cambrie T
The Real Unicorn
‘CRASH, SHATTER’!
Forty nine times we escaped that beast The whole school including me, It had grey skin and sharp teeth
And the horn of a unicorn. It’s the unicorn of the sea
It killed half the squad, But luckily not me. ‘SMASH BANG’! ‘CRASH CLANG’!
It comes closer It swims deeper
Shatter… The blue and grey beast
With the breath of the dead Is beautiful, is a narwhale

An event open to the public, proudly hosted by Pymble Public School
Dr Kristy Goodwin translates the latest research about how technology is shaping childhood into essential information and realistic advice for parents.… and no she won’t suggest that you ban the iPad, or unplug the TV!
Parents will understand the latest risks to kids’ online safety and digital wellbeing (including why kids have become obsessed with Fortnite, the current cyber-safety risks for primary students, how to prevent and deal with cyber-bullying, screen ‘addiction’ concerns and exposure to pornography) as well as the health and learning implications of young kids growing up in a world of screens. Kristy will share her simple formula to calculate healthy screen-time limits, will arm parents with a host of strategies and ideas to prevent techno-tantrums and will discuss whether we should use screen-time as a reward or punishment tool.
Ditch the guilt & guesswork. You’ll leave being able to make informed decisions about how to best manage screen-time at home, so that it doesn’t always end in ‘scream time’.
