Selecting a principal is critical to the wellbeing and future success of any school. In regards to LPS, the process will start in this manner. I will be principal until January 28, 2019. Over the Christmas break, I will be finalizing the completion of the new building and preparing the school for the 2019 school year. On January 29, the beginning of Term One, I will be on long service leave for Term One. During my leave, Mr Adam Cairns will be acting principal. I would imagine early in Term Two, the principal selection process could start depending on the Department’s timeline. In fairness to Mr Cairns, Adam has ‘plenty on his plate’ currently preparing the year six class for their transition to secondary school. His role as acting principal will not begin until January 29, 2019. How long Adam will be in the role of Acting Principal is up to the Department. If anyone has any questions regarding this process, please direct those questions to me. The new build is moving right along. Today there is another progress meeting where an exact completion percentage will be discussed. In January, there will be landscaping, fencing and some paving/concreting completed with the ambition that the building is ‘open for business’ on January 29 th for the start of the new school year. Lastly, I would like to give a ‘Big Pat on the Back’ for all students regarding how well our students are doing with the swimming program this year. As chaotic as swimming days look with buses coming and going, kids in and out of the change rooms, etc., everyone is doing really well. A big ‘High Five’ to everyone including the staff for their efforts as well. Buenos Dias
Just a reminder that tomorrow, Friday, November 2, is a student free day as the staff are engaged in a training day.
In addition, next Tuesday is a public holiday, Melbourne Cup, for all students and staff.
Transition days begin to take place in November for both 2019 Prep students and our current Year 6 students
transitioning into the secondary school stage of their education. It is very important for parents and students to
beware of these transition days.
At the end of last term, I wrote in the newsletter regarding my decision to retire at the end of this school year.
There is a process to go through in regards to the selection of a new Principal for the school. There will be a
selection panel appointed and of course a very stringent process to follow with the Department of Education
leading the way. Selecting a principal is critical to the wellbeing and future success of any school.
In regards to LPS, the process will start in this manner. I will be principal until January 28, 2019. Over the Christmas
break, I will be finalizing the completion of the new building and preparing the school for the 2019 school year. On
January 29, the beginning of Term One, I will be on long service leave for Term One. During my leave, Mr Adam
Cairns will be acting principal. I would imagine early in Term Two, the principal selection process could start
depending on the Department’s timeline.
In fairness to Mr Cairns, Adam has ‘plenty on his plate’ currently preparing the year six class for their transition to
secondary school. His role as acting principal will not begin until January 29, 2019. How long Adam will be in the
role of Acting Principal is up to the Department. If anyone has any questions regarding this process, please direct
those questions to me.
The new build is moving right along. Today there is another progress meeting where an exact completion
percentage will be discussed. In January, there will be landscaping, fencing and some paving/concreting completed
with the ambition that the building is ‘open for business’ on January 29th for the start of the new school year.
Lastly, I would like to give a ‘Big Pat on the Back’ for all students
regarding how well our students are doing with the swimming
program this year. As chaotic as swimming days look with buses
coming and going, kids in and out of the change rooms, etc.,
everyone is doing really well. A big ‘High Five’ to everyone
Enrolments for the 2019 school year are well underway, however; we are still waiting on a number of
enrolment forms for Prep students for next year. I would ask all parents who are anticipating enrolling
their child please do so as soon as possible. Staffing for the 2019 school year has already started but
having a fairly certain understanding of student numbers is imperative for planning the 2019 school year. Our
enrolment over the past few years is increasing and this year we have had several new enrolments during the school
year. Staffing decisions have to be made now and without confirmed student numbers it makes the task very difficult.
ART NEWS...
On Saturday 10th November, the Bairnsdale Show will be happening and once again, all the students at Lindenow
PS will be exhibiting in the Art and Craft sections of the show. We have been working hard to get our artworks ready
in time, as we know how important it is to support this wonderful community event.
So far, we have no Wearable Art creations from Grade 5&6 students at school, so perhaps there are some busy
designers and creators at home!
Some students are bringing artwork back to school for the show and folios are a great help with this. If you still have
art folios at home, please return them to school so we can use them at the end of the year to transport all of the
Semester Two creations.
Textiles is our inspiration in Term Four. Grade 6 students are screen printing T-shirts, Grade 5 will be making
Transfer Dye Pillows, Grade 4 are making Wet Felt creations, Grade Three are doing Dry-Point Felting, Grade Two
are weaving with painted paper and Preps are doing hessian weaving. So much fun and exploration in the art room to
finish the year.
Put the 10th of November in your diaries so you can visit the Bairnsdale Show this year, as well as Lindenow Has
Talent on the Friday 16th November at 1.45pm.
PE On Monday we celebrated being active with Ryan and Alana from the BARC. Each grade participated in a 30-minute fitness session, which challenged cardiovascular fitness and coordination. A yummy fruit platter to share followed our activity. We thank the Walk to School program for supporting this incursion. Grade Preps pictured.

Lindenow has Talent 2018 A variety show Singing, instrumental, dance, novelty acts, drama, play, skits & songs.
Families are welcome to support the Talent afternoon on the 16th November at 1.45.
REMEMBRANCE DAY Poppy badges, bag tags, wristbands & pens are now on sale at the school office. Prices
range from $2 - $20
WANTED We have a family of three moving to Lindenow in November and they are in need of a house to rent.
If you know of any properties in the town or on the school bus route please contact the school.
Thank you.
LINDENOW PRIMARY SCHOOL SUNSMART POLICY
Our SunSmart policy has recently been updated and it is now recommended that we use SunSmart
actions whenever the UV levels reach 3 or higher (not just in Term 1 and 4), therefore children are
encouraged to carry a hat in their school bag throughout the year.
A free SunSmart App is available online and will advise the UV levels at any given time. The
school can also offer sunscreen to children, especially at lunchtimes and PE sessions.
