Economy:
The development of tourism after the Turkish invasion of
Famagusta and Kyrenia in 1974, the principal tourist resorts of
Cyprus.
Limassol is the base for many of the island's wine companies
(KEO, LOEL, SODAP and ETKO).
The biggest industrial centre of the province.
An important trade centre of Cyprus. The largest ship management service centre in Europe with
more than 60 ship management companies located in the
town of Limassol, as due to the Cyprus Shipping tax system it
is very attractive for ship management companies to have

Landmarks:
The medieval castle, built by the Byzantines around 1000 AD.
The Archaeological Museum, which provides a very interesting
collection of antiquities found in the district of Limassol, dating fromthe Neolithic Age to the Roman Period.
The Folk Art Museum, a beautifully preserved old house with a
collection of Cypriot Folk Art of the last two centuries.

Landmarks:
Municipal Art Gallery.
Public Garden, situated on the coastal road, with a great variety of
vegetation: eucalyptus trees, pine trees and cypresses. Inside thegarden, there is a small zoo.
A series of public sculptures commissioned by the Limassol
Municipality, can be found on the Twin Cities park, spanning one
mile (1.6 km) of Seafront.

Explore Limassol:
The old city: the heart of Limassol, with narrow streets which
lead to the old fishing harbor of Limassol.
Municipal Market: traditional merchants sell their goods.
Limassol Castle and Kolossi Medieval Castles.
Kourion Archaelological Site: a Greek-Roman theatre,
ancient villas with mosaic floors and an early Christian
basilica. Amathus Archaeological Site: according to mythology this is
where Theseus left the pregnant Ariadne to be cared for after
the battle with the Minotaur.
