Lighting Analysis. Whiz Khalifa – Roll up. In this mid shot both natural and artificial lighting is used to enhance the features of the artist. There is natural lighting because from the shot the viewer is able to tell that this scene was shot on a sunny day. Also there is artificial lighting that is coming from behind and underneath the camera that leaves a glare in the shot. The artificial lighting also helps to emphasise the artist face. These types of shots are used a lot in this music video because of the artist being new to the music industry. This supports Andrew Goodwins theory by the director using these shots to familiarise the general public with the artist face. In this establishing shot natural lighting is used. This shot is effective because of the scenery. In this shot is appears to the viewer that the sun is going down, this is why the viewer sees two different shades of blue in the sky. This could represent calm and tranquility. This could be an indicator of how the characters in the shot feel. The natural lighting is a form of background lighting because it is behind the characters.
