Focal Glow

Pic. 1: Courtyard at Village of Merrick ParkThe lights placed on the palm trees create focal glow. The different textures are enhanced creating interest. The glow is reflected on the floor next to the seating and walking creating a sense of space and direction as well as preventing glare and veiling effects.

Relaxation.The diffused peripheral lighting in these interiors create a sense of relaxation. The overhead lighting is minimal and non-uniform lighting


PrivacyThe light intensity is low and non-uniform creating a sense of privacy


Pleasantness.The combination of downlighting, peripheral lighting and uniform diffused lighting makes these environment pleasant and friendly.


• In the picture on the left, gloom is produced by lighting of the translucent surface of the table from within. The overhead lighting is minimal in comparison to the table lighting which minimizes the details on the peripheral areas

• In this picture the overhead lights that illuminate the display tables were left on without any illuminance in the room.
