Focal Glow
Pic. 1: Courtyard at Village of Merrick ParkThe lights placed on the palm trees create focal glow. The different textures are enhanced creating interest. The glow is reflected on the floor next to the seating and walking creating a sense of space and direction as well as preventing glare and veiling effects.

Sparkle (glitter)
Pic. 3: NordstromThere is sparkle reflected on the glossy material of this chandelier’s drum. Also, the chandelier transmits sparkle through its crystals.

• In the picture on the left, gloom is produced by lighting of the translucent surface of the table from within. The overhead lighting is minimal in comparison to the table lighting which minimizes the details on the peripheral areas
• In this picture the overhead lights that illuminate the display tables were left on without any illuminance in the room.
