The reality

Page 5: Lighthouse Pitch - Startup Weekend EDU Seattle 2014

“The tragic end to the search for Avonte

Oquendo clearly demonstrates that we

need to do more to protect children with

autism who are at risk of running away.”

~ NY Senator Chuck Schumer

Additional Business Model Information

“I LOVE this idea. My school has had issues with students who are known to be

‘runners’ or ‘escape artists.’ My administration still needs to put a protocol in place

that would actually make a difference.”

~ Barbara P., Elementary school speech pathologist

“I want this. Special needs students are pulled out my class frequently throughout

the day. I think it would be a good idea for a teacher to be more aware of their

students whereabouts.”

~ Nicole P., Elementary school special education teacher

Page 18: Lighthouse Pitch - Startup Weekend EDU Seattle 2014

Privacy Concerns

• iBeacons utilize Bluetooth Low Energy, a positional tracker that doesn't transmit location or connect to the internet.

• They will be distributed at school and only used on school grounds. iBeacons will not follow students home.

• Users who are able to connect to iBeacons will only see a jumble of metadata, and not actual student information.
