Lot 83 Warwick Avenue, Mannering Park (next to the Tennis Courts)The Shed has over 50 Members who come together from different backgrounds and experiences. Our common goals are mateship, sharing skills and to have fun. Woodturning and welding have been very popular with our “shedders”. Our craft section is popular and the Members work on a variety of community-based projects or just fix up a few things at the Shed for themselves. Others play cards or borrow books from our library. They do as much or as little as they like. We provide a welcoming environment to meet and learn new skills, teach others your skills or just for a talk or a cuppa and a laugh or two! New members are always welcome. Our monthly meeting/chat is 3rd Wednesday of each month at 10am followed by lunch. Call 0415 138 337 for more information. Car/Truck/Marine Batteries and Aluminium Cans for Recycling are gratefully received on opening days to help us with running our shed. Please call us if you need assistance with large quantities. Well we have achieved another great month’s work. The mulched gardens look amazing and the soil quality to die for. Our plants are loving it and it shows as even though it is winter everything is still holding its heads up. We have been doing general tidying up of our gardens as the weeding is always there, and we are hand watering of some of our more vulnerable areas. Unfortunately we have had some more plants taken. This is very disappointing as the gardens are all planted and worked on for everyone in Mannering Park and their visitors to enjoy. This is your community’s gardens. Please keep an eye out and report any suspect activity. Another problem has been the illegal dumping of rubbish. I am sure that most of you saw the pile along the causeway? Don’t these people know that you can order a council pickup? You as residents can report any illegal dumping to the council on their hot line and it will be cleaned up. As I have said before don’t let others mess in our beautiful nest. Delta have upgraded their CCTV cameras therefore any illegal activity can be brought to the police. Thank you Delta.I can’t dance to save my life but when I stand in
dog poop I can moonwalk better than Michael Jackson!!!Meanwhile come and join us at any time between 7am and 11am every Thursday at Warwick Avenue, or in one of Mannering Park’s garden areas. We look forward to seeing you there. Norma, Vice President.

Gwandalan Ladies Bowls ReportOur Triples Championship is still in progress, a few delays with District Events taking priority.Every year we play Halekulani Ladies for the Heizer Shield it has been an ongoing event for sometime. Last year we didn’t win this year all I will say Is go Gwandalan the shield is home again well done to all the Ladies who played.Gala Day for August the 20th had to be cancelled as many Clubs had events happening on the same day which was unfortunate. To all our ladies who are sick or looking after sick loved ones our thoughts are with you and hope to see back soon.

Winter is nearly over and the year is just flying past us, can’t believe we have even been talking about Christmas already. Everybody, including our members, have been talking about the drought and the dreadful position our farmers are in. We can’t believe that some people have clearly no understanding of how dire the situation is not only to the farmers but to us in the cities....where do they think our food comes from!!!The Gwandalan Bowling Club is collecting non perishables and accepting donations to send so if you can help just add one item to your weekly grocery list and deliver to the Bowling Club to add to the growing collection, even pet food is needed. We are not the only ones in the area trying to do something so help out if you can.We are having another active year and have just had a great days out to Maitland to that fabulous craft shop then to East Maitland Bowling Club. We are having a speaker come to give us a talk on “our health”, so that should be interesting. We can always learn how to take better care of ourselves as we age.We are also preparing for our Annual Fete which will be on the 3rd November, just in time to start buying Christmas gifts.Want to come and see what we are about? Give our President a call on 49761735. We meet each Tuesday at the Community Hall, Koowong Road, Gwandalan from approx 8.30am to 11.30am.

SUMMERLAND POINT/GWANDALAN TIDY TOWNS &
LANDCAREApologies for not getting a report done for last month - must have had a “senior moment”. After a very wet period in which we could not mow, now we have had this very dry few weeks. It is lucky that the weather is not hot at the moment. Due to a number of volunteers being away and some sickness, we have had smaller numbers than usual, but the graffiti removal continues as does some of the mowing. Maintenance of the garden behind the armco at the roundabout has continued and the area mulched. It would be great to get some more volunteers on board, and it is a good way to meet some new friends, especially if you are new to the area. We are also approved to sign off volunteer hours for Centrelink purposes. Our working bees start around 7:15 a.m every Tuesday, weather permitting, and we meet at the Council compound off Summerland Rd, between Nurses Corner and the roundabout. If you have any enquiries about Tidy Towns you are welcome to call 4976 1558 for information or come and meet us at morning tea in Maddison Reserve, Summerland Point around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesdays.
