The Need of wireless data has been increasing day by
day in this modern world.
The major source used for wireless
transmission is Radio spectrum.
The problems of Radio spectrum are availability
,capacity , efficiency and security.
The rays that constitute the electromagnetic spectrum
are:
Radio waves
Infrared waves
Ultra-violet rays
X-rays
Gamma-rays
Visible Light rays.
Li-Fi, or light fidelity, is 5G visible light
communication systems using light from light-emitting
diodes(LEDs) as a medium to deliver networked, mobile,
high-speed communication in a similar manner as Wi-
Fi and Optical fiber.
Visible light communications (VLC) signals work by
switching bulbs on and off within nanoseconds, which is too
quickly to be noticed by the human eye.
Professor Harald Haas, from the University of Edinburgh in the UK, is widely recognized as the original founder of Li-Fi.
Research has been going in
Korea , Russia and other dev-
loping countries from 1990’s
but Hass made the world
wonder with his creation at
the 2011 TED GLOBAL TALK.
The LI-FI construction requires four primary sub-
assemblies:
a)Bulb
b)RF power amplifier circuit(PA)
c)Printed circuit board(PCB)
d)Enclosure
Traffic lights and Vehicle lights
Air craft cabins
In some areas in hospitals
Ocean beds etc
Li-Fi is still in its infancy and the possibilities are very
high in which this technology can be moulded and
explored further.
If this technology improves every bulb can be used as a
data hotspot.
With its magic of light , it can make our world a lot
more safer , greener , cleaner and moreover a brighter
place to live.
