What is light?• The light is composed from electromagnetic waves.

• The electromagnetic radiation that we see is called visible light.

It is the base for every life proces on the earth.

SidelightingThe vertical windows are the most used. They supply:

• daylight

• outside sight

• easy ventilation

The windows however have a limit: the sunlight isn’t distributed uniformly in the room

Toplighting

Compared to vertical windows, they offer some advantages:

• They are less frequently obstructed by trees and other buildings

• They spread uniformly the light into the room

Rooflight is used to illuminate the room by using the sunlight.

• Air: 30 mm

• Isolation: 90 mm

• Inside wall: 100 mm

• Plaster: 12 mm
