English in communication(erroneous expression, sillypronunciation etc) will make

Communication
in
Every Second
Speaking Writing
1 day is equal to365 days
Our everyday communication depends mostly on in person oral
communications such as talks, chats, discussion, meetings both in formal and
informal setting and writing emails or Face book messages . So, clearly our two
main focuses are two skills of English Language: Speaking and Writing.
Unless we change our
entire social setting thatwe live in ( e.g. moving
to a foreign country), wealways communicate
with similar kind of
people for a certain set ofcommunicative needs.
So, what we say or write
in one week is almost thesame as we do in the rest
of the year. So with that
being said, the followingslides will describe some
easy methods to meet
everyday communicativeneeds.

WHAT DID FRANK SAY TO APRIL? Frank and April are two characters in the recently
released movie Revolutionary Road of Leonardo di
Caprio and Kate Winslet. You may have seen the
movie, right? Will you believe me if I say that thismovie is a great spoken tutor for you? Well, it was
for me!! How? Take a look at the other column in
this slide. All these five sentences are taken from
the movie that I put in my notebook while
watching it and every now and then I am using
them in my communication. I always keep a
notebook while watching English movies and take
note of interesting, useful, new and dynamicexpressions. Similarly, if you take; lets say 50
expressions from 10 movies, it means you can use
all of them in your daily needs. Remember, in
movies what we see are nothing but real life stuff,
in a broader sense, it is your life. Dont think that
note taking while watching movies will spoil your
enjoyment rather it will teach you English in the
easiest and the most exciting way; mostimportantly without your extra effort. If Bollywood
movies can automatically teach you Hindi, why
not Hollywood movies teach you English?? Think
about it, seriously!!
You are making me feel
awful.- (used when somebody is verydisappointed at somebody else)
It is not realistic at all.(used to describe an idea of fallacy.)
Oh! I almost forgot. (usedwhen you mistakenly forgot something)
I am so excited to be
with you. (This beautiful expression isused to say that how happy you are to be withsomebody else.

I Hope This Email Finds You Well
1. I Should be Free This Morning If
you Would like to Stop By . Would
10 am work for you? ( used for
fixing an appointment)
2. Give Me A Second( when
somebody doesnt want you to
fuss)
3. It Was Wonderful Hearing From
You.( usually written in thebeginning of a mail)
4. I Really Appreciate It( Used
when somebody wants to thank
you for what you have done)
y I never new this expression I hope
this email finds you well until now. I
maintain a notebook and keep record
of new sentences and expressions
that I come across from my
colleagues and friends here at US.
Just the way we internalize new
Bengali expressions such as Abar
Jiggs or joss ekta gaan, Jotil hoyche,
we can learn English too. But in order
for that to happen, we need to
correspond with those who are better
than us. Look at the left the column. I
am using all of them now but I had
never done before I came to U.S. So,
whenever you find a new and effective
expression, keep it in your notebook
and start using them.

y I liked your sweater ( An unknown
American woman commented on my
sweater while I was shopping at
Syracuse Carousel Mall.
y Where is mine? (In an elevator, a girl
said this while I was holding a cup of
Ice cream!)
y Great Timing (I said this in thelibrary when I found a student leaving
my favourite table which I wanted to
use for studying)
y Life living on a Jet Plane, Always Run
Never Walk Situation(in order to
illustrate my unimaginable campus life
starting from 7 am in the morning
and ending at 3 pm next day and
meeting deadlines one after another
in days and nights, I used these 2
expressions In my first email from
Syracuse to Bangladesh and I think it
wonderfully expressed my thoughts.
All these expressions, mentioned in
the left column are spontaneous andcreative. They serve three purposes:
a. These small but beautiful
expressions are not only highly
appreciative but also very
communicative.
b. This also presents one individual
quite smartly in the social settings.
c. It also keeps our English coming
spontaneously.
So, be creative and never feel shy to use
your own expressions.
