Your V!VA Community Newsletter Copyright V!VA Retirement Communities Corporation 2018 October 2018 V!VA to all who participated . Grandparents Day Classic Car Show We celebrated Grandparents Day this year with the V!VA Pickering’s classic car show and BBQ. Our parking lot was filled with cars from the early 1900’s up until the 1970’s with most cars having been personally restored by their owners. We enjoyed a delicious BBQ lunch prepared by our fabulous V!VA licious team, and warmed up with some refreshments in our very own beer tent. At the end of the day all the Community Members and guests voted on their favourite cars, and received prizes donated by local companies. Happy Grandparents Day — we look forward to doing it all again next year! Overnight to Niagara Falls V!VA Pickering had their very first fun filled overnight outing to Niagara Falls. The itinerary was packed with fun activities. On the first day, we watched The Grand Hotel play at the Shaw Festival and settled into our fallsview suite at the Hilton Hotel. We enjoyed a meal at the casino buffet and some had some luck playing at the casino to end the night. The next morning’s adventures started off with a hornblower boat cruise close to the falls, followed by a delicious lunch at Betty’s. On route to Niagara-on-the-Lake, we stopped at a local market, ending our excursion with a wine tour and tasting at Konzelmann’s Winery. Our Community Members had such a wonderful time that we are looking forward to planning a two-night trip to Ottawa next year during the tulip festival. A taste of the Niagara region with great company . V!VA Olympics August was a month full of friendly competition! V!VA Pickering, V!VA Mississauga, and V!VA Thornhill Woods competed in their annual V!VA Olympics challenge. Competing in three sporting events, teams from each location battled it out for the gold, silver and bronze medals. We spent the month practicing and perfecting our skills and selecting who will be on our V!VA Olympic Teams for each sport. It’s surprising to say this year we had a 3 way tie! Out of the five years of running this event this is our very first tie, so we are currently thinking of a fun solution on how we can ensure there is only one champion. We would like to thank V!VA Thornhill Woods for hosting a wonderful Olympics and thank all the participants who practiced daily to make this competition a success. A classic round up of hot wheels .
