National Game and Puzzle Week

November 23-29 is National Game and Puzzle Week. It’s a chance for families and friends to get together and have fun! What’s your preference? Board games, card games, video games or yard games? Everything counts as long as you do it to-gether! Fairview Public Library is bringing back Family Fun Night beginning this month. Every Tuesday and Thursday, families are invited to stop in and play a variety of board games, work puzzles, and do some holiday crafting! Trivia buffs can stop by during the day on November 20th from 9:00-4:00 to try their luck at What Do You Know About That? for patrons ages 14-up. The Marion County Public Library sponsors TableTop Games every Wednesday from 5:00-9:00 p.m. It features non-traditional board games fun for ages 15-up. Check out Tabletop games by Will Wheaton online to see the type of games we have. Popcorn, chips, and drinks are served and admis-sion is free! The group keeps growing weekly, so stop by and stay as long as you can. For more infor-mation, contact Dan at 304-366-1210.

Gaming Day @ the Library!

Celebrate International Gaming day at the library. Satur-day, November 15th is International Game Day and the library will be celebrating with various games throughout the library. Join in on the scavenger hunt, board games, and other fun activities. Popular board games, activity sheets, crosswords and more will be available. A Wii bowling tournament will take place starting at 2:00 p.m. Come early and stay as long as you can!

Teen Crafternoon

Grab you favorite magazines and use pictures to create works of art! We will be decoupaging pictures onto mini canvases for the Teen Crafternoon on November 18th at 4:30. Use our pictures or bring your own, just make sure they are about 2x2, and all other supplies will be provid-ed. Sign-up is required, so call us at 304-366-1210.

Adult Craft Class

Our adult craft class will be taking a hiatus through the holiday season. We will resume in January 2015, when we will begin a series of quilting classes. More infor-mation will be provided in December’s newsletter. See you then!

Turkey, Turkey, Turkey Day

Join us Saturday, November 22nd to get ready for this fun filled holiday. We’ll be making various Thanksgiving crafts, coloring sheets, puzzles, and other fun things. Ac-tivities will take place from 2:00-3:30 p.m. Make a fun decoration to make your Thanksgiving festive!

Tabletop Game Club

They’re not your parents’ board games! Join us on Wednesdays from 5:00-9:00 for some untraditional board games. Bring your own games, or use ours, either way it’s free to play and you’ll have a great time! Refresh-ments are provided, come when you can and stay as long as you want!

Friends Book Sale

The weather is getting cooler and it’s time to load up on books for the winter. If you’re looking for books in great condition, check us out on Fridays from 10:00-4:00 and Saturdays from 9:00-1:00.

Huddle Time!

Pop Open a Good Book. We’re all in for Monday Night Huddle Time. Jami’s planning Game Night and a Thanksgiving Party this month. Huddle Time is a new program for K-4 this fall. Every Monday, Jami will alternate weekly programs; featuring school-age sto-ries and activities between K-2 and 3-4 graders. To register call 304-986-2803. Space is limited.

Story Time

Pop Open a Good Book! with Mrs. Jami. She’s plan-ning a great time while we Fall into Books, grow some Crazy Hair, and throw a Thanksgiving Party this month. Story Time is a pre-school program instil-ling the love of reading into our 2-5 year-olds. The program is every Wednesday at 10:30. To register, call the library, as space is limited.

Saturday Morning Movie

Grab a Ticket! We will be featuring Planes Fire and Rescue on November 15th at 11:00. Everyone is wel-come. Refreshments will be served.

Pizza Party

We’re celebrating Blackshere Elementary’s first grade class the month of November. Each time a first grade student visits the library this month, we will give them a pizza topping for each item they check out. The class with the most toppings will win a Pizza Party and special story read, compliments of the library.

Reading is a Feast

Mrs. Alicia keeps things moving in November with her weekly Toddler Time and Story Hour classes. Partici-pants will be able to celebrate Starry Nights-PJ Party, Scarecrows and Pumpkins, and Giving Thanks with all new stories, crafts, and games. Remember during the week of November 24th there will be no classes due to Thanksgiving Break.

The After School Movie returns on November 25th with Free Birds. Since space is limited for this event, registration is required and can be completed over the phone or in person. A light snack will be provided, and those coming directly from school will be able to walk to the library with Mrs. Alicia.

Juvenile Patron Appreciation Grab Bag Giveaway for 2014 concludes in November. Children who present their library card when checking out can fill out a tick-et for the drawing, and one entry will be randomly chosen as the winner.

Enjoy Fall (Before it Leaves)

There’s fun for the whole family in November. Teens and t’weens can join us for their After School Movie on November 18th-Fred Claus. Mrs. Linda will also be providing snacks and crafts to tie into the movie’s holiday theme. Space is limited so registration is re-quired; this event is open to juvenile patrons in grades 4-8.

Family Fun Night makes its return every Tuesday in November from 4:00-6:00 p.m. beginning on Novem-ber 4th. Families are invited to play board games, work puzzles, and do some holiday crafting while they’re here so be sure to stop by for some fun!

Trivia buffs can join us on November 20th from 9:00-4:00 p.m. for our monthly contest, What Do You Know About That? Patrons ages 14-up are eligible to participate, and the patron with the most correct an-swers wins a prize. Stop by and see this month’s dis-plays, Talking Turkey, and our Veteran’s Day display, featuring scrapbooks specific to Fairview during WWII.

A Driving Spirit

The library will be sponsoring Food Pantry and Mitten Tree drives. From November 12-December 12, we will be accepting non-perishable food items, and from November 1-December 5, we will collect various items of children’s winter clothing to be donated to Fairview Elementary.
