The most important factor about blogging in the 2st century is that you are letting your voice as a blogger be heard by others. Yes, you have something to say! You are human aren’t you? This presentation is meant to inspire you to share your expertise and future endeavors with others.

“If you’re going to fall out of love with public approval, something interesting will happen: people will be deeply attracted to your work.”

-- Jeff Goins

Blogging in the 21st century as a graduate student and future librarian is one of the most credible ways of informing your peers, future employers, and community about who you are and what your brand represents (-aka- YOU)! Think of a blog as a vehicle to tell your story whenever you want, in real time, and you control all aspects of it.

I started blogging while in Cuernavaca, Morelos (Mexico). I needed an outlet to document my experiences and what I was going through while staying in the country. The blog that I created during that time is entitled: soflynmythirties. It was the beginning of a long journey and I still blog today via this platform. I’m still in my thirties so I have to keep the trend up until the next phase arrives in my life.

I created digibooklibrarian to document my journey as an African American graduate student in Library Science & Information Technology. I’ve met a lot of people virtually, blogged about a lot of interesting subjects, and achieved many milestones in the process.

I think blogging is one of the best forms of communication within the global community. Blogging can be a form of therapy or a writing platform about a particular subject matter that you are passionate about. Trust, there's always someone ready to read what you have to say: U JUST HAVE TO SAY IT!

If you like to write, blogging is a for sure way to challenge yourself and to see REAL-TIME results from your hard work and influence in the virtual world.

digibooklibrarian is a African American graduate student blog, produced by kYmberly Keeton. The blog will have been online for two years as of spring 2014. My last post as the publisher will be the week that I graduate.

digibooklibrarian has over 1,000 followers. The blog is updated monthly. There are times when one or more posts are published in a month.

digibooklibrarian was ranked as the #3 Top Librarian Blog in 2012, by Accelerated Degrees (out of 50).

digibooklibrarian features four subject headings dedicated to librarianship for its readers.

digibooklibrarian’s primary focus is to inform the public about what’s it’s like being a black graduate student in a library science and information technology program.
