It’s that time of year again to prepare for bad weather. In the event adverse weather conditions affect the school’s regular schedule you will receive a text from the district’s Electronic Alert System. This system will send a text to each of the phone numbers you
have registered with the school for contact purposes. You can also listen to KWBE, KUTT/
KGMT radio or watch channels 8 and 10-11 on your television.
It is important to remember two items when late starts occur. First, buses will run
according to the announced late start. If a “2 hour late start” is announced, plan on the
buses running two hours later than normal. Secondly, always error on the side of caution
when determining rather to allow your child to drive to and from school when road
conditions are questionable. Safety is priority one.
Parents of PK-6 StudentsThe weather is changing. The children go outside to play at recess unless it is extremely cold. Please encourage your
child to dress appropriately to stay warm...a coat that closes in the front,
hat, and gloves. Once the snow is on the ground, if your child wants to play in the snow, they MUST have snow pants AND snow boots to wear at recess or they
will have to stay on the pavement. Please write your child’s name on all
their “cold weather gear”.

LEWISTON FFA TO RECEIVE FARMERS COOP GRANT
The Nebraska FFA Association recently notified the Lewiston FFA Chapter that they are the recipients of a grant. The grant is sponsored by Farmers Cooperative and valued at $400.00.
The grant was written to enhance a chapter welcome sign and school promotion sign. Mr. Dennis Kenning, Farmers Coop Marketing Director, said the program was a way Farmers Coop helps grow local communities through the FFA. The Lewiston FFA has partnered with Farmers Cooperative through the fall Harvest Jamboree at the Burchard elevator, elementary rural safety days, at producers regional programs at Virginia and through a tour of the Jansen dry fertilizer plant.
AG CAREER FAIRThe Lewiston Ag Education Department is hosting an “AG Career Fair” for the Lewiston Consolidated School’s 7th, 8th and 9th graders. The new event will take place January 18th at the school.

Mr. Barnard and FFA Secretary Miah Fulton are organizing the event. Some of the guests include Conservation Officers, Extension personnel, Ag finance officers, agronomists and natural resources conservationists.
