Colorado Pediatric Trauma Conference

CONFERENCE INFORMATION OVERVIEW AND LEARNER OUTCOMES

The Colorado Pediatric Trauma Conference provides education for state-of-the-art care of the pediatric trauma patient. This program will be of interest to physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, respiratory therapists, EMS providers and aeromedical personnel. CME, CNE, and EMS continuing education credits are available. Learner outcomes are to expand your knowledge of pertinent clinical conditions through evidence-and-case-based presentations and identify available resources for pediatric trauma care.

OBJECTIVES

• Discuss pediatric-specifi c patient assessment and various pediatric responses to illness and trauma.• Illustrate the importance of obtaining an accurate history in the diagnosis of abuse and neglect.• Describe the acute treatment for frostbite for pediatric patients in the pre-hospital and hospital setting.• Describe the assessment of pediatric facial trauma with a focus on soft-tissue injuries. • Review initial assessment of the airway when blunt trauma is suspected.

CONFERENCE INFORMATION CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT

A certifi cate of attendance will be available upon completion of the online evaluation. Claim only those hours you attend (11/16: 6.25 hours, 11/17: 6.25 hours).

Medical: Children’s Hospital Colorado is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Children’s Hospital Colorado designates this live activity for a maximum of 12.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nursing: Children’s Hospital Colorado is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Western Multi-State Division, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s  Commission on Accreditation. This educational activity for 12.5 nursing contact hours is provided by Children’s Hospital Colorado. 

EMS: Children’s Hospital Colorado is a State of Colorado recognized EMS Training Group (CO-049) and will provide 12.5 continuing education credits for pre-hospital providers.

Other: A general certifi cate of attendance will be provided for all other healthcare providers.
