BACKGROUND Overseas Coach Routes Ltd (“OCR”) was established by its current Managing Director, Ian Starmes, and provides coach and bus travel from its leased base in Camberwell, London. All of its international journeys use London Victoria Coach Station. The company has a Standard International Operator Licence, granted on 1st December 2008. You are the nominated Transport Manager and have an International CPC. DRIVER SCHEDULING POLICIES AND INFORMATION Drivers must be scheduled for 15 minutes at the start of every shift for walkaround checks and paperwork. Standard running time for the 5 km journey from the Camberwell base to London Victoria Coach Station is 20 minutes and schedules must allow 10 minutes at London Victoria Coach Station for boarding passengers. All drivers have signed a workforce agreement that allows them to exceed the 10 hour shift limit for night workers. The Channel Tunnel train service is available on the hour and every 15 minutes in between. Time spent on the Channel Tunnel train and time spent on ferries must be recorded as break. VEHICLE MAINTENANCE All vehicle maintenance is carried out in OCR’s well-equipped workshop. OCR has an excellent safety record and its vehicles have never incurred a prohibition notice. Drivers carry out walkaround checks at the start of every shift and any defects found are immediately reported in writing. FLEET AND FINANCIAL INFORMATION

Days available per annum 280 260 260 The exchange rate to be used is €1.00 = £0.85. Drivers are not paid overnight allowances, but are entitled to overseas allowances for rest days outside the UK. These payments cover meals and accommodation. Drivers are not paid wages for these rest days.

FUTURE WORK Ian Starmes intends to start a coach service to and from Copenhagen, Denmark. He sees an opportunity to attract tourists wishing to travel to all countries on the route and, in particular, continental football supporters coming to London for weekend games. Ian has sent you a note: Here are details of the new Copenhagen route. Get the application form drafted as soon as you can and give me a proposal for vehicle and driver schedules (we should double man one of the tour coaches) so we can get going on this one quickly! It’s going to be a single service each way to start with, leaving London every Monday 1400 and leaving Copenhagen every Friday 1315 so the football fans will get to London early Saturday morning. The drivers can stay in Denmark Tuesday to Thursday, taking weekly rest – pay them three days for overseas allowances. No courier – the non-driver can take care of the passengers on the move. They’re to drive down to Folkestone to put the coach straight on the channel tunnel train to France. Make sure the passengers get three 30 minute stops, at Eindhoven, Műnster and Hamburg, where the drivers can both take breaks. Local agents will deal with the passengers boarding and alighting at these stops and the drivers won’t need to help. Crossing times are 35 mins (Channel Tunnel) & 45 mins (Puttgarden/Rødby ferry). Return journey is back down the same route. I’ll need a detailed budget, so I can start to think about pricing. Keep the costs down! I can get the tunnel for £315 each way and I got us a discount on the Puttgarden/Rødby ferry, which departs clockface on the hour and every 20 minutes. It will be €190 on the crossing to Rødby, but €220 on the way back. Base the costing on four driving days for the round trip AND add our normal 15% to all costs! And don’t forget this part of mainland Europe is an hour ahead of us! Regards, Ian OCR will need to apply for authorisation to run the service.
