Diving Australia Level 1 Coach Accreditation Course
Diving Australia Level 1 Coach Continual Professional Development and
Re-Accreditation (CPDR) process.
Following successful completion of a Diving Australia National Coach Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) coach accreditation course, coaches are NCAS accredited by Diving Australia. Coaches remain on the NCAS register for a period of 4 years at which time they will be required to update their accreditation to remain active on the register. Reasons to Update Coaches are required to update their accreditation to:
• ensure their coaching skills are maintained
• ensure coaches are aware of the most up to date techniques and coaching methods
• ensure coaches provide a safe environment for all participants and reduce the likelihood of coaches becoming involved in legal actions
• ensure coaches stay abreast of any rule changes of the sport
• ensure DA has an up to date register of active coaches.
• ensure eligibility to coach at Diving Australia events
Process of Updating Following registration with the National Coaching Scheme, coaches will receive an accreditation identification certificate on which there will be an expiry date. A reminder six months prior to accreditation expiry will be emailed by the National Coaching Director (NCD) of Diving Australia along with a copy of this updating policy. This will be followed by a second reminder 3 months later and a final reminder one month prior to expiry. It is important to notify Diving Australia of any change of address and, in particular, email address during the 4 year period otherwise these advice notices may not be received. Prior to expiry the coach must provide to the State Coaching Coordinator (SCC) confirmation of updating requirements as set out below. The SCC will verify details and advise NCD of compliance with all aspects of the updating process. NOTE
• Responsibility for updating remains with each individual coach.
• Not receiving advice from the Diving Australia does not constitute a valid reason for failing to update.

General Updating Requirements
Level 1 Diving Coach Continual Professional Development and Re-Accreditation (CPDR)
Coaches must provide the SCC with confirmation they have:
• coached a minimum of 75 hours per year over the four year period (allowance for school holidays may be taken into consideration)
The DA Level 1 Coach CPDR Process has been designed to encourage Level 1 Coaches to “pull” relevant
learning opportunities from a range of options, to best suit their development needs and wants, as opposed
to DA “pushing” them to undertake activities which may not suit their needs. As a result, they are offered a
suite of relevant and time efficient development opportunities designed to not only maintain their current
level of competency throughout a 4 year accreditation period, but to help them become better Level 1
Coaches, or effectively progress further into the DA Coach Development Pathway.
DA Level 1 Coach CDRP Procedure

• be a financial coaching member of Diving Australia
• read, sign and the Coach’s Code of Ethics Agreement
• hold a current First Aid Certificate from an approved provider
• hold current Working with Children Clearance
• pay $15 fee direct to Diving Australia
Consequences of not updating
Coaches who fail to complete updating requirements as specified:
• will not be recognised or approved as an National Coaching Scheme accredited coach
• will be ineligible to coach at Diving Australia competitions, camps or other activities sponsored by Diving Australia or Member Associations
• will not be allowed to coach at most public swimming pools
• may contravene Diving Australia Coach insurance policy
• may have independent coach insurance affected
Special Considerations
Special leave considerations (such as maternity leave, leave related to employment, study etc.) are
available subject to approval by the National Coaching Committee (NCC).
Coaches whose accreditation has lapsed may apply to the NCC for consideration for re-
instatement.
Over 12 Months since expiry:
• coaches may be required to complete the appropriate course again, or undertake specific updating activities as stipulated by NCC.
Less than 12 months since the expiry:
• the NCC may require the coach to provide details of involvement in coach related activities since expiry, undertake a period of 8-10 hours practical coaching under supervision and/or undergo practical assessment by an NCC approved coach.
THE NCC WILL CONSIDER EACH APPLICATION FOR RE-ACCREDITATION ON
INDIVIDUAL MERIT.
