Water Vascular SystemWater enters the madreporite, through the stone canal, into the ring canal, down through the ampullae into the tube feet to provide the suction
Steps1. Identify all external anatomy on aboral and oral
2. On one arm, cut with scissors about 2 centimeters off.
3. Continue with the same arm, cut with scissors down both sides. Careful to cut only through the skin.
4. Cut along the top of the arm to cut off skin. Careful to not damage thecentral disk.5. Remove skin.
Steps6. Remove digestive and reproductive glands with forceps, place to the side.7. Examine ampullae.8. Using scalpel, cut through central disk(go around madreporite). Careful to not damage the stomachs.9. Remove central disk.10. Examine madreporite, find the stone canal that leads into the ring canal.11. Examine pyloric stomach. Find the canals that attach to the stomach and lead into each arm. Remove and set to the side.12. Examine the cardiac stomach. Remove and set to the side.13. Examine the mouth.
Clean UpThrow away starfish and all parts that were
removed into the large trash can.Wipe out the dissecting tray.Wipe off all tools except the scalpel.Wipe off tables.Put tray and tools back into center of table.Last period- group tools/tray on front counterRemove gloves and throw away.Remove apron and fold up. Place in stack with
