ABOUT US

Page 3: Let’s fly high

Numerous factors such as political stability, environmental, social and governance (ESG) as well as the importance of the hundreds of billions of dollars of FDI poured in African countries, and the emergence of private equity firms and venture capital as a powerful alternative source of funding to the high interest rates offered by local banks, have made Africa the undisputable place to invest in.

Our Story

The UAE has paved the way for its investors to take a position in Africa. With an overall investment of USD 649M between 2015 and early 2019, mainly driven by great corporations such as Etisalat and DP World.

These factors have fueled the building of a highly calibrated team, to gather their synergies through their respective pedigree of sophis-

ticated bankers and investors, deep- ly rooted in Africa business culture and politics to launch OVA (One Vision Africa) with the objective to be one of the key players in the African Investment ecosystem.

OVA Holding believes that investing in Africa is a solid business opportunity and is a potentially sustainable corp- orate strategy for any invest- ment firm.

Africa, according to the report by the UN, had the highest rate of return after initial investment. Compared to 9.1% in Asia, 8.9% in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa’s 11.4% on inflows of Foreign Direct Investment between 2006 and 2011 tops the global figure placing only at 7.1%.

In addition, recent survey from “The African Private Equity and Venture Capital Association” shows that 76% of the investors are willing to increase their investments over the next three years.

Why Africa?Macroeconomic policies, social infrastructure, political institu-tions, and a dynamic demogra-phy with a growing youthful pop-ulation amidst an ageing popula-tion in other regions, make this statement tangible, and support the delivery of Africa potential to investors.

In addition, the ongoing homog-enization of regulatory rules enabled by the launch of the “African Continental Free Trade Agreement” (ACFTA) signed by more than forty countries com-mitted to, among others, liberal-ize trade in services, remove non-tariff barriers over the next future, and allow international remittance and payments, as well as the regional integration of economies, all these factors have increased Africa’s attrac-tiveness to OVA.

A new generation of African leaders, aware of Africa’s large deposits of natural resources is making the case of attracting FDIs and building strategic part-nerships with sophisticated investors such as OVA to gradu-ally transform the African econo-mies by offsetting the gap in infrastructure, education, health-care, advanced technologies, and fintech, and turn them to a promised land of prosperity.

These fundamentals, backed by our knowledge and expertise in Africa’s economic terrain and our direct access to a strong network of investors who share the same interest, perspectives and investment appetite make our investment objectives more plausible to achieve.

Viewing the future, Africa offers one of the highest and brightest economic growth prospects according to IMF.

The main objective of any investment should consist on preserving the entirety of principal and seek to maximize the return.

In either case, OVA will adopt a more hands-on approach to provide insights and oversee investments in order to maximize its returns.

SECTORS

EDUCATIONBy the next decades, Africa will have the largest working-age population in the world. Through the continent governments and citizens are eager to have their youth educated and skilled which makes Education a very attractive market by its size and its growth rate.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIESAdvanced technologies such as Artificial Intelli-gence, Cloud and Edge computing, Electronics & Communications Systems, Surveillance & Counter Intelligence Systems, Cyber Security, Cyber Warfare, Internet Connectivity, Drones, Robotics, Blockchain, Mobile Computing, IoT, Automotive, Smart Homes, Smart Cities, Healthcare, Wearables, and Waste Recycling and Conversion are enjoying a rapid adoption in the continent as they have a substantial impact on the development and growth of other industries.

FINTECHSupporting the fintech firms to access to funding will foster innovation and implementation of new services such as mobile money, contactless payments, QR code technologies, local and international money transfers and payments.

These services in addition to the emerging block-chain-based trading platforms are the future of highly profitable segments.

FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONSHistorically, this sector in Africa struggled to access funding and capital, and only 23% of firms reported using banks to finance their investment in 2017.

The alternative are the Private Equity firms (and Venture Capital) with 1022 deals between 2013-2018 and a total value of $25.7bn reported transactions.

OVA aims at entering this game and providing not only funds but also expertise, and guidance.

AGRITECHDespite 60% of the world’s uncultivated arable land in Africa, the continent is only responsible for 10% of the world’s agricultural produce.

This paradox provides opportunity to invest in farms and agro-processing which have an immense poten-tial of production over the next decades, thanks also to the productivity enabled by mobile connectivity.

NATURAL RESOURCES AND COMMODITIESAfrica has what the whole developed world is demanding to ensure its economic growth: oil, gas, gold, diamonds, platinum, manganese, copper, and other raw materials. Investing in such projects is profitable and will allow the African countries to leverage these investments to boost their future long term economic growth and prosperity and be an efficient market maker.

INFRASTRUCTUREAfrican governments are aware that the poor infrastructure – roads, rail systems, clean water, etc in their countries is likely one of the main reasons that explains their weak economic and social devel-opment.

Contribute to filling the gap in infrastructure, in accordance to each country’s needs, through JV or partnerships will unleash the dynamic of growth, and is one of the key objectives of OVA.

ENERGYOil, gas, renewable energy, solar-home systems leveraging mobile technologies, services, and power space are at the forefront of the panel of solutions for economic development, diversification and job creation in Africa. The potential of profitable growth and returns is attractive wherever in the value chain we need to play.

HEALTHCAREHealth care system in Africa is facing insufficient resources, namely personnel, equipment, data sys- tems, and inequality in healthcare access.

Investment shall be characterized by inclusive trans-formation, effective delivery, and prioritizing areas such as diagnostic services, pharmaceuticals, and health care facilities, to reach the goal of having health systems more resilient and equitable.

OVA will focus on those sectors that provide a high quality of assets and that respond to its shareholders, and investors’ expectations while contributing to reduce the gap in all the targeted sectors thanks to a substantial range of strategic partnerships.
