Camera anglesThis trailer includes a series of different shots, in particular I believe the shots that stand out are:• There's a long shot of an area with houses this

allows the audience to understand where the film is set.

• There is a mid-close-up shot of a boy flicking the boys nose which gives us an idea that the boy is being bullied.

• There is also a mid-shot of the boy stabbing a tree with a knife in anger this could mean the buy has some mental issues ,while we see this shot the camera pans across following what the boy is looking at and as he turns around we are able to see a pale girl staring at him; this shot is followed by an over shoulder shot of the boy looking at the girl.

• We are also able to see a powerful low angle shot of a body falling from the roof of an estate onto the someone, by looking at the shot clearly I can see that the girl is preying on the body she caught which indicates the girl is a vampire.

Camera angles• Another powerful shot was a high angle shot of a

man throwing another dead mans body into a lake, this implies that this film contains a lot of violence and murder; this is a typical convention in a horror film as there is usually people being killed.

• The mid-shot of the body being dragged helps us confirm that they film must be a horror/thriller movie.

• There is a close-up of the girl touching the boys hand as she may be comforting him about something.

• At the end of the trailer there close-up shot of the girl looking up in this shot the girl looks older as if her face has transformed which makes the audience wonder why her facial features have aged, additionally this shot helps us establish that the girl is not so innocent as it is shown if a scream in the background conntating she brings danger and is not so innocent and vulnerable as she may look.

Mise-en-sceneCostume/hair/make-up:• The two main characters that are shown the most in the trailer are the girl

and boy this illustrates that they must be the main characters. Throughout the trailer the boy is mostly wearing a coat, scarf, trousers and suitable walking shoes as it is snowing. Although the girl on the other hand tends to wear shirts, dresses and t-shirts which shows see does not feel cold as she is a vampire. Additionally her face is very pale in comparison to the boy this makes it clear the she is a vampire who does not have blood in her system therefore she has to kill humans to suck their blood.

• Other characters that are shown are two females in the woods who have a shocked face as if they have seen something unusual, these women are wearing puffy coats again due to the weather conditions.

Props:• The boy is shown holding a knife twice in the trailer, this denotes that he

can be quite violent. • There is a man shown holding a torch as if he is spying on someone's

actions.• The boy is on a bicycle riding it happily.• There Is a note the boy is reading which may be from the girl as it has a

heart on it so it could be a love note sent from the girl.

Mise-en-scene

Setting:• At the very start we are able to see the outside of

a few houses so we can establish the setting.• There is a shot where we see a character in a

hospital, this is another typical location for a horror film as character usually go there when they have issues or when they are injured.

• The shot of the boy being bullied by another pupil is set in a school which highlights that the boy is bullied at the school he attends.

Lighting:• There is usually low-key lighting used in the more darker scenes that are in the dark for instance the shot of the girl eating the human and the buy watching someone being attacked.• There is also high-key lighting used in the shots during the day such as the shot of the boy smiling after reading the note and the shot of the by being bullied at school.

Sound

• The trailer starts off with a piano playing and some very quite instruments and some sounds of the boy stabbing a tree with a knife.

• There are sounds of a bang which change with the scenes shown, there are sounds of someone being eaten as if a vampire is bitting a human being, there is also a swish sound which comes when the storyline in the trailer develops more into the action scenes.

• There are a few places in the trailer where there is a slight piano playing which is unheard clearly as there is dialogue between the boy and the girl.

• Several of the scenes suit the image on screen as the sound is parallel for instance when the girl is eating the human being/sucking the blood of the human.

• Towards the end the music builds up as by starting off edgy and tickly it becomes louder with a lot of different insturments playing such as: drums, and the music is heightened which is followed by sounds of someone screaming and ends with the boy speaking to the girl and the music then going back to the way it was at the start with a piano playing.

Editing

• The cuts for each shot throughout the trailer are very quick. For instance the trailer starts off with the shots lasting a few seconds long but during the middle of the trailer after a sudden climax sound the shots start to change more faster and start to flash more quickly.

• After the music starts to change the images on the screen also suit the fast pace music as the scenes change in a second or less then a secnd tot show that at this point of the film the storyline will develop more.

• The use of fast shots is a typical convention in horror films as they usually have fast cuts to imply there is somethimg big going to happen and these fast custs drawn in the audience as they are tempted to see what is going to happen and by the shots ebing cust it makes them want to go and watch the film to see what actually happens after particlaur scenes that inertest them.

‘Let the Right One In’ in contrast to ‘The Cabin in the Woods’ and ‘Stoker’ trailer• In comparison to The Cabin in The Woods, Stoker and Let the Right In trailer,

there are a lot of similarities as all of these trailers music first start off slow pace and during the middle they start to develop. This shows that horror film trailers use this convention a lot as they start off with dialogue/ slow music to help tell a story and build a sort of eerie atmosphere and then towards the middle the music builds up and with the music the shots also start to change faster to grab the attention of the audience.

• Let the Right One in is of a horror and drama genre.• Stoker is of a drama, mystery, thriller and psychological horror as this film

involves more thinking and hidden story lines.• The Cabin in the Woods is of a horror, mystery and thriller genre as well. • The Cabin in the Woods and Stoker are more similar in terms of genre as Let the

Right One In includes more drama which means a lot of the film would include the actors expressing opinions on things. Although all three of these films are of a mystery genre which highlights that to construct an horror movie may be it is quite common to make sure the film includes mystery so that it could build tension in the viewers eyes and appeal to them more.

Comparison with remake trailer ‘Let me In’ (American remake)

• The trailer for the Let Me In American version of the film gives the audience more information on what the film is about as three quarters of the trailer includes dialogue and action scenes. Whereas the Let the Right One In Swedish version starts off with less happening and slow pace which towards the middle shots get quicker with heightened music. The Swedish version keeps you thinking more and draws your attention more as it gives less away about the story line.

• Although the American version has a lot of dialogue between the girl and the boy and allows us to understand that the girl lives next door to the boy and has moved in recently and that her dad does not want her to hang around with this boy as they are vampires; this is clear when there is a mid-shot of the girl telling the boy that she ‘needs blood.’

• I personally believe the American version is more appealing as there is something happening from start to finish. On the other hand I believe the Swedish version is also powerful in a sort of way as it starts off with the boy stabbing the knife on the tree this makes us think why he is doing this, it build an edgy atmosphere which makes and as the trailer develops we are able to see a dead body being dragged, a man being pushed in a lake, a girl sucking blood and the boy holding a knife; this leaves us confused as to who the protagonist is and who the antagonist may be in the film. This is a good thing about this trailer as it leaves audience frustrated to watch on and put the puzzles together.

• Let the right one in is of a horror and drama genre whereas Let me In is of a horror, mystery and drama genre this indicates it has more to it in terms of building tension to the viewers eyes and keeps you thinking more.
