About Searle’s RV Centre 1972 - 1989
Paul Searle established a successful caravan
yard in Geelong, Victoria. Ben Started washing
vans for pocket money. He got involved in the
workshop then eventually going to caravan
shows helping hand out brochures. His wealth
of knowledge from a young age set him apart.
2008 - 2018
After a short career as an accountant then
working in the car industry. Ben’s connection
with the caravan industry eventually got the
better of him. Opening his yard in Bundaberg in
2008, was not easy due to the economic
climate. But from day one the business has
been successful and grown with time.
Ben Searle
I have always had a passion for the caravan
industry. I decided that my point of difference
would be giving my customers the support
they expect, regardless of their where they
are. Although some business’s offer it, and all
customers ‘expect it, I want to be sure to
deliver it. And do have.

About
The roots of Avida go back to 1965, when Bruce Binns, with the assistance of
his wife Ruth, introduced the first slide on camper to Australia. Under the
banner of Freeway they progressed by producing motorhomes, caravans, fifth
wheelers and tent trailers.
In 1978, Freeway changed its name to Winnebago Industries and the Original
Australian Winnebago was born. Whilst these vehicles were not manufactured
by, or by anyone having any association with, Winnebago of the United States,
the company continued to grow because of their commitment to research and
development of the Australian conditions and market.
In 1988 the business grew from producing Motorhomes in one factory to
producing Motorhomes in four factories. In 2000, the company purchased
a10acre block of land at Emu Plains NSW. By January 2001, the company had
settled into the new premises, the same site it operates out of today.
In 2008 a second factory was built on the same site to help feed the demand
for their Motorhomes. In 2013- the company changed their name to Avida.
Avida originates from the word AVID - being passionate and enthusiastic. Also,
this year caravans were reintroduced after 35 years.
Today Avida's motorhome range boasts more than 70 models in total,
employees over 250 staff and builds over 600 RV’s annually. But most
impressive is that it is still run by the Binn’s family toady.
Vision: “To create the vehicle that fulfils our customer’s dream lifestyle”.
Values: “We Care, We Listen, We Learn, We Act”

About
After 10 years of pouring their heart and souls into building what
become one of Australia’s high profile vans known for its quality and
reliability. A brand that is still on the market today. Eddie Wills and
Ian Jow, hence WILLOW, have now started their own brand.
Both men bring expertise in different fields which when combined
makes for the perfect partnership.
Eddie the engineer is softly spoken, matter of fact and methodical in his
approach. If the engineering is right then the quality is consistent and
Eddie has spent countless hours in the field road testing, measuring
and recording all the data that is integral in RV construction.
Ian brings production expertise that ensures ever van is built to the
engineered standard time and time again. He is an expert in production
systems which allows for accurate ETA’s to be met without the frazzled
rush and panic most manufactures operate under. Ian’s ability allows
for minor changes to be adopted as the RV flows along the line, a last
minute request for an extra skylight, no problem. If Eddie gives it the
tick Ian will ensure it’s in there as in rolls off the line.
As a dealer that has built a strong reputation on customer support and
being there for my customers. Having dealt with various manufactures
that promise but don’t deliver, the moment I heard of their plan I was
all in. So you could say I put my money where my mouth is.

About
An Initiative by Ben For years I would sit around while my father shared stories with
his mates. Mates that could tell the year of a van by the clip that
holds the blind closed. Stories about the ups and downs of the
caravan industry, who’s copying who, what the latest trends are
and a few stories of the good times had at caravan shows. We have
a generation of pioneers getting out, are out and same sadly even
passed away. And with them the stories fade, the clarity of the
information eroded with time.
I am now in my own way attempting to preserve some of this
history. Little by little the collection grows. Not to be sold but
inspected, admired, listened to and talked about for any years to
come.
Anything old that is connected in any way I encourage people to
call me, drop it in, email or post it I don’t mind but don’t just
through it out. If you have any old photos or stories of your own,
you would like kept on record just send them to me. For today it
is a few glass cabinets, a hand full of vans and 1 Kombi. With the
help of the public I hope this grows bigger than the space my
business can handle and then look at a purpose-built museum.

The Day Of Hand Over
Well – the day has finally arrived.
We have found it’s best to arrange the handover on a Friday morning. This
gives us as much time as we need to ensure you are familiar with your RV
before driving out. We do a comprehensive handover covering everything
externally and internally at your pace. Then if it’s a caravan we get you hooked
up and ready to go. If it’s a motorhome we go for an orientation drive with you
to loosen up those nerves.
If you wish I will accommodate you for 2 nights at the beautiful Bargara Beach
Caravan Park. Allowing you a few days to get to know your new RV and the
reassurance that we are close by. Then at your own pace head home and let the
adventure begin.

Servicing & Warranty??? Servicing
As part of the Manufactures warranty, all they ask is that
the RV is inspected on a regular basis. This ensures any
issue is seen to and rectified sooner rather than later. No
different to when you buy a new car. We would love to
see you back for these services but the good news you
can get then done at any caravan/ Rv service centre.
Remember if you have a motorhome the vehicle will
need to be serviced by a mechanical workshop and use only factory
approved fluids and parts.
My Guarantee on Second Hand Stock If it’s good enough for me to sell it, it’s good
enough for me to stand by it. There is no
statutory warranty on second hand caravans
or motorhomes so what some dealers do is
buy an insurance warranty and give it away
with the product. This way they advertise a warranty. I looked into
this and even tried it in the early stages of opening my business. I
found it caused a lot of upset. Because of this insurance style policy
you had to call a help line who would give you the run around and
eventually say it’s not covered. There is no ownership.
I take ownership of your concern and fix it.
And remember you always have rights under the Australian
Consumer Law, so did let anyone tell you otherwise.

Manufactures New Warranty The question I always get is, “you’re too far away
what if something goes wrong”?
The chances of something going wrong while
your parked up at home is very slim. So, if you
bought from the yard just up the road, how will
they handle your call for assistance while you’re
travelling?
I have built my reputation on how I look after my
customers, after delivery. If at any time you have
a question or something that you feel is not right
or something isn’t working, leaking, or failed in
some way. All you need to do regardless of where in Australia you are is to
call. 07-41513000 or 0418874463 after hours. (I don’t know any dealer that
gives out their mobile number so freely. I do because I appreciate your
business and don’t want you feeling helpless when in need). At this point
we will take ownership of the issue. You go back to playing golf or reading
your favourite book and my team will find a solution to fix the issue.
Yes, it’s that simple – No finding the closet dealer that might be 500km’s
away and not interested in you. Then turns out they send you somewhere
else. We will get you into, or have come out to you, the closet and best
qualified business to fix your concern. I pay the bill then sort it out with the
manufacture.
Simple – Fast – No Stress
