People paid by the hour are paid extra for hours they work in addition to regular hours. Overtime is hours worked over 40 hours per week. Work on Sundays and holidays is usually counted as overtime. Time and a half means one and one-half, or 1.5, times the regular hourly rate. Double time means two times the regular hourly rate. Time and a half is usually paid for overtime on regular work days, Monday through Saturday. Double time is usually paid for working on Sundays and holidays.
