On April 10th,1912, the Titanic set off for her first trip from Southampton, England, to New York, with 2,227 passengers and crew aboard. It was the largest and finest ship at that time, At 11:40 p.m. on the night of April 14th , traveling at a speed of 20.5 knots, she hit an iceberg. At 2:20 a.m. she sank. 1,522 people were lost at sea, including passengers and crew. There were only 705 survivors.
