    • It is a fusion of French, Spanish, West-African languages, English, Portuguese and Taino (The language of the first inhabitants of Hispaniola)• Haiti (Ayiti ) is a Taino word• Sapat comes from the Spanish Zapato• Bokit comes from the English bucket; repoze comes from English repose• Bon Diye (God) from French Bon Dieu• Manbo and marassa from Kongo language• Mantèg and tchipe from Portuguese
