of changes. The base form of most French verbs ends in the letters

-er.

To change (or conjugate) the -er verbs, you need to do the following:

with these subjects:

je (I) -e nous (we) -ons

tu (you) -es vous (you) -ez

Let’s break this down into simple steps.

Using the word parler (to speak)• take off the -er and we have parl-• to say “I speak”, use “Je” and then put the

ending that goes with “Je “ on the end of parl-

Je parle.

I speak. OR I am speaking. OR I do speak.
