From the Chair
Les Liaisons Dangereuses is well into the rehearsal and technical process. I’ve seen
some of Kate Jones’ costumes and they are gorgeous!
The 75th Anniversary committee is moving ahead with plans. Please help them out with
photos, memories and stories.
Many of you will have already had a call from Anne Fougere and her nominating com-
mittee. Please think seriously about joining a committee and volunteering your time for
our theatre. It truly is a team sport and we need everyone to keep the wheels turning.
It’s not just about acting in a play. It takes a lot of time and effort to keep this organiza-
tion up and running. Many hands make light work.
We haven’t had a quorum at a single meeting this year. We had to pull people from re-
hearsal to accept next year’s season. At our next meeting on May 8, we will talk about
how we will schedule and structure meetings for next year.
GLT's 75th anniversary year is fast approaching (1933 - 2008)! In order to plan the events to celebrate such a tre-mendous achievement, a new committee has been formed. Members include Kay Mattear, Stephanie Azevedo, Roy Schrieber, and Pauline Faul. They will need your help too!
• Please submit any stories you have from the past 75 years (selected stories will be printed in the Phoenix every issue and will be collected for archival purposes).
• Check the website for frequent updates!!
• All submissions (stories, ideas, etc...) can be addressed to the committee members at: [email protected]
• ***If you have any suggestions please contact any one of the committee members: Kay Mattear, Stephanie Azevedo, Roy Schrieber, and Pauline Faul. All suggestions greatly appreciated!!!
Pauline Faul, graciously offered to pay the cost of repainting the Green Room in preparation of our 75th anniver-sary season. Perhaps we can challenge other members to be as generous regarding other areas of the theatre (auditorium, rehearsal hall, foyer, washrooms, dressing room). Did you know that next season is not only our 75th Anniversary but also the 25th Anniversary of being in our own space: The Cambridge Arts Theatre, home of Galt Little Theatre. We opened on October 13th, 1983. Since then, not only have we been entered into the Cambridge Hall of Fame, we also have had other awards: A Heritage Cam-bridge Award of Merit, 1984 in recognition of sympathetic architectural adaptation - Institutional Category; The Granada Entertainment Award in recognition of our contribution to the field of entertain-ment in the community; and an award of merit from Waterloo Regional Heritage. These awards are displayed in the foyer along with a board showing major donors, so next time you are at the theatre take a look.

Mini-fest 2008 The Audition
By Lynda Martens Submissions are now being accept for directors for the 2008 Mini-fest play. This is a one act play "The Audition" by Lynda Martens.
The Mini-fest will be hosted by Theatre Woodstock, July 25 - 26th. (Friday evening and Saturday).
The Mini-fest is a weekend workshop in which 6 theatre companies perform the same one-act play. Each production will be followed by a workshop where all members can participate. The host group will supply the sets and lighting so there will be very little technical work. Although a stage manager/ technician will be required.
The script will be available shortly. It is about 6 people arriving for a mysterious audition. The actors don't know who called them or why they are auditioning. The cast consists of at least one male while the rest can be any gender. It is recommended that all participants plan to stay for the duration of the workshops. There is a lot to be learnt for directors, cast and crews.
This will be an excellent opportunity for beginner directors to try their hand at directing. For more information or to submit your application, contact Marion Smith or Patricia Harmer. More information can be seen on WODL website under mini-fest 2008 (www.wodl.on.ca).
