French class Week 4: Friday 3 rd April/Saturday 4 th April: Instruction for Work to be completed this week: Section 1: Go through notes I have provided on possessive adjectives- rewrite into your own copies. This is an important piece of grammar so make sure you understand it completely before next week. As always you are welcome to call or text me if you don’t understand any of it. Section 2: Exam Paper Specific grammar practice- Complete Questions 1 to 5 – watch out for possessive adjectives. Try to apply what you have learnt in Section 1. Les Adjectifs Possessifs(Possessive Adjectives): The possessive adjectives (my, your, his/her, our, their) are very important for Section C of your exam, the Written Section. They crop up frequently in the grammar question and also in your written pieces- you will be saying “my family”, “our hotel”,etc. To decide which possessive adjective to use- you need to look at the noun it is describing in the sentence. Ask yourself: Is the noun it’s describing masculine/feminine/beginning with a vowel/plural? How to know which possessive adjective to use: Masculine Singular Singular + begins with a vowel feminine singular all plural nouns my mon mon ma mes your ton ton ta tes his/her son son sa ses our notre notre notre nos your (plural) votre votre votre vos their leur leur leur leurs Examples: Mes parents=my parents (we use “mes” because “parents” is plural) Mes vacances=my holidays Nos vacances= our holidays Mon appartement=my apartment Mon ami(m)=my friend Mon amie(f)=my friend Notre hôtel=our hotel Leur hôtel=their hotel You have TWO pieces of work to send to me this week: Homework task 1 and Q1-5 from Section 2.
