Flounder are still biting well during the day, along with a few redfish. White trout are biting during the day, but it really gets good at night. Ground mullet, croaker and redfish are also hitting the pier at night. Live and dead shrimp and squid for everything. Cracked crab and cut mullet for black drum and redfish. 38 39 46 46 41 36 Fishing weather is here, and the reports prove it. Fishing has been great everywhere. Specks are up to 3 pounds, and flounder and redfish are coming from the Theodore Canal. White trout and ground mullet are biting all over. Cedar Point Pier is still a hot spot for white trout, ground mullet, specks and black drum. Dog River Bridge is producing white trout, puppy drum, ground mullet, and big redfish and black drum day and night. Everything is biting off the River Shack Pier also. Reports indicate reds, specks, white trout and flounder are showing up at the rocks at McNally Park. Dead and live shrimp is working for all. Bull minnows for flounder and reds. Dead shrimp, squid and cut mullet for white trout, ground mullet and black drum. 38 Souther-N-Bama 251-471-4939 33 Gulf State Park Pier 251-967-3474 Anglers were catching good numbers of king mackerel, Spanish mack- erel, flounder and whiting on Tuesday. Over the weekend, they caught the same species plus gafftopsail catfish, croaker and redfish. Small alewives are holding on the pier for bait. Alewives or frozen cigar minnows for the larger fish. Everything else is eating live shrimp, bull minnows or dead shrimp. 7 Scott’s Landing 251-626-5323 Speckled trout are biting on a line from the pilings at Daphne and Montrose across Mobile Bay. Some of the fish are coming from under birds, but others are being caught by guys just drifting and casting grubs or live shrimp under popping corks. Redfish, flounder and a few specks are coming from North Pass. Bass fishing is good in Game Warden Ditch, Bay Minette Basin, and Threemile and Mud- hole creeks. Everything will eat live and dead shrimp under a cork. Specks are also eating grubs under popping corks and MirrOlure Glad Shads around the pilings. MS 26 Shingle Mill Landing 228-475-8167 The Escatawpa River re- mains in good shape. Bream fishing has contin- ued to improve, with bigger fish being caught. Bass and catfish should be biting better with cooler water temperatures, but not many folks are fishing for them. White perch reports are still slim. Bream are eating wigglers. Bass will eat wigglers and small spinnerbaits. Catfish will eat wigglers. Redfish, black drum and the occasional flounder continue to bite in Pinto Pass. Redfish, croaker, puppy drum, sheepshead, and a few flounder are coming from the seawall. Small bass are coming from Causeway bays. One angler weighed one at 6 pounds-plus. Specks are scattered in the river, and fishermen are doing well, but many are still undersize. Puppy drum, nice croaker, a few sheepshead and redfish are coming from the River Shack Pier, Wood Park and McNally Park. White trout are plentiful at the markers in the ship channel, the Bend- er/Austal Reef at Gaillard Island, and channel outside the Theodore Canal. Several oversize redfish are in the same locations. Flounder, redfish and specks are hitting bull min- nows, although the specks prefer live shrimp and var- ious artificial lures. Dead shrimp will catch everything. Fluctuating river levels are doing bass fishermen no favors. Right now, the best bet to catch fish may be to go to bays along the Causeway like Chuckfee, Delvan or Choccolotta. In the Causeway bays, Snagless Sallies or small spinnerbaits usually do best, though plastic lizards will work for fishermen with a little patience. 36 Fish’n Fever 251-675-6030 Redfish and specks are coming from Bayou La Batre, the City Docks, Coden Bayou, Grand Bay and Coffee Island. Big white trout, including quite a few yellowmouths, are coming from the City Docks. Ground mullet are coming from Katrina Cut.
