Changes to the LEED AP Credential Exam…

Credential Maintenance Program Requirements Eligible programming Reporting

TIER I – GREEN ASSOCIATE

Covers general materials for LEED, but not the technical details of the individual rating systems (ie. you don’t need to know the difference between ASHRAE 55 and ASHRAE 62.1)

TIER II – LEED AP+

Builds on Green Associate exam and tests credit knowledge of specific credit details and regulations. Intended for those actually working on LEED projects.

TIER III – LEED AP FELLOW

If you do nothing, you will “NEVER” lose your LEED AP status If you already are a LEED AP (“Legacy”) and you want a specialty,

you:

Agree to the Code of Ethics

AND

Take the specialty exam

OR

Register for prescriptive credential maintenance

Sets exam appeals process and means by which GBCI can suspend or revoke LEED AP status.

General Professional Ethics, with a few interesting clauses:

Tier I – Green Associate

• 15 hours – 3 LEED specific

Tier II – LEED AP+

• 30 hours – 6 LEED specific

Tier III – LEED AP Fellow

• ??? – Presumably same as AP+

• Two-year cycle

• $50 maintenance fee

• Prescriptive requirements for legacy APs

• 6 additional LEED Specific hours for each additional specialty

Ways to earn CMP hours

Prof. Dev. / Continuing Ed Live Presentations Self Study College Course Certs., Prof. Licenses & Credentials Committee/Volunteer Work Authorship LEED Project experience

24 “inexpensive” credits

Professional Development/Continuing Ed. At least 50 minutes ERB approved

Live Presentations 50 – 90 minutes

Self Study Programs At least 60 minutes ERB-approved…or not. Structured…or not.

College / University courses If NOT part of a degree program, they count as

Professional Development

Certificates, Prof. Licenses, Credentials Industry related to Green Building

Committee Volunteer Work USGBC, GBCI, Chapters Organization that support the LEED system

Authorship

LEED Project Participation Paid or unpaid

Earning CMP hours

Prof. Dev. / Continuing Ed / LEED Specific Course must be approved by an Educational

Review Body (ERB). Right now there is only one ERB – the USGBC
