NOTES TO USERSThis map is for use in administering the National Flood Insurance P rogram. It doesnot necessarily identify all areas subject to flooding, particularly from local drainagesources of small siz e. The community map repository should be consulted forpossible updated or additional flood haz ard information. To obtain more detailed information in areas where Base Flood Elevations (BFEs)and/or floodways have been determined, users are encouraged to consult the FloodP rofiles and Floodway Data and/or S ummary of S tillwater Elevations tables containedwithin the Flood Insurance S tudy (FIS ) R eport that accompanies this FIR M. Usersshould be aware that BFEs shown on the FIR M represent rounded whole-footelevations. These BFEs are intended for flood insurance rating purposes only andshould not be used as the sole source of flood elevation information. Accordingly, flood elevation data presented in the FIS R eport should be utiliz ed in conjunction withthe FIR M for purposes of construction and/or floodplain management.Coastal Base Flood Elevations shown on this map apply only landward of 0.0’North American V ertical Datum of 1988 (NAV D 88). Users of this FIR M should beaware that coastal flood elevations are also provided in the S ummary of S tillwaterElevations table in the Flood Insurance S tudy R eport for this jurisdiction. Elevationsshown in the S ummary of S tillwater Elevations table should be used for constructionand/or floodplain management purposes when they are higher than the elevationsshown on this FIR M.Boundaries of the floodways were computed at cross sections and interpolatedbetween cross sections. The floodways were based on hydraulic considerations withregard to requirements of the National Flood Insurance P rogram. Floodway widthsand other pertinent floodway data are provided in the Flood Insurance S tudy R eportfor this jurisdiction.Certain areas not in S pecial Flood Haz ard Areas may be protected by flood controlstructures. R efer to S ection 2.4 "Flood P rotection Measures" of the Flood InsuranceS tudy report for information on flood control structures for this jurisdiction. The projection used in the preparation of this map was Florida S tate P lane W estFIP S 0902. The horizontal datum was North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83), GR S 1980 spheroid. Differences in datum, spheroid, projection or S tate P laneZones used in the production of FIR Ms for adjacent jurisdictions may result inslight positional differences in map features across jurisdiction boundaries. Thesedifferences do not affect the accuracy of this FIR M.Flood elevations on this map are referenced to the North American V ertical Datum of1988. These flood elevations must be compared to structure and ground elevationsreferenced to the same vertical datum. For information regarding conversionbetween the National Geodetic V ertical Datum of 1929 and the North AmericanV ertical Datum of 1988, visit the National Geodetic S urvey website athttp://www.ngs.noaa.gov or contact the National Geodetic S urvey at the followingaddress:NGS Information S ervicesNOAA, N/NGS 12National Geodetic S urveyS S MC-3, #92021315 East-W est HighwayS ilver S pring, Maryland 20910-3282(301) 713-3242To obtain current elevation, description, and/or location information for bench marksshown on this map, please contact the Information S ervices Branch of the NationalGeodetic S urvey at (301) 713- 3242, or visit its website at http://www.ngs.noaa.gov.Base map information shown on this FIR M was provided in a digital format bythe Lee County GIS Department. The road centerline information was based onorthophotography produced at a scale of 1"= 100' from aerial imagery flown in1998 and updated using orthophography dated 2002 and 2005, and last updatedin 2013. The surface water features were also constructed based on orthophotographyproduced at a scale of 1"=100' from aerial imagery flown in 1998This map reflects more detailed and up-to-date stream channel configurationsand floodplain delineations than those shown on the previous FIR M for this jurisdiction. As a result, the Flood P rofiles and Floodway Data tables formultiple streams in the Flood Insurance S tudy R eport (which contains authoritativehydraulic data) may reflect stream channel distances that differ from what is shownon the map. Also, the road to floodplain relationships for unrevised streams maydiffer from what is shown on previous maps.Corporate limits shown on this map are based on the best data available at the timeof publication. Because changes due to annexations or de-annexations may haveoccurred after this map was published, map users should contact appropriatecommunity officials to verify current corporate limit locations.P lease refer to the separately printed Map Index for an overview map of thecounty showing the layout of map panels; community map repository addresses;and a Listing of Communities table containing National Flood Insurance P rogramdates for each community as well as a listing of the panels on which each communityis located. For information and questions about this map, available products associated with thisFIR M including historic versions of this FIR M, how to order products or the NationalFlood Insurance P rogram in general, please call the FEMA Map Information Exchangeat 1-877-FEMA-MAP or visit the Map Service Center (MSC) website athttp://msc.fema.gov/. Available products may include previously issued Letters ofMap Change, a Flood Insurance S tudy report, and/or digital versions of this map. Many of these products can be ordered or obtained directly from the MS C website.Users may determine the current map date for each FIR M panel by visiting the FEMAMap S ervice Center website or by calling the FEMA Map Information eX change.
