“The Book of the King”• Jesus is portrayed as King• The theme of Kingdom runs through
the entire Bible– Adam and Eve were created to rule– Promise of a coming King– Jesus returns as King in the book of
Revelations– The kings of Israel were meant to
represent God

VI.IMPORTANCE OF THE BOOK
To link the message of Jesus to the
Old Testament• Many of the Old Testament
prophetic words are stated to be “fulfilled”
• Compares Jesus to Moses

1:8 – new king 2:1 – the king
1:10 – fear of the Jews joining outsiders 2:3 – fear of the Gentiles visiting
1:16 – threat on the baby boys 2:16 – threat on the baby boys
2:9 – Moses’ family paid wages so he could be raised in Egypt
2:11 – Jesus’ family given money to raise the boy in Egypt
2:15 – Moses had to flee the land 2:13-15 – family fled to Egypt
