Everyone knows that they should have their legacy planned. No matter how young and healthy you might be, pianos still fall from the sky. But once that planning is done, is everything all settled in case of illness or worse? Test your own preparedness:

As you can see, just having the right product isn’t everything. The issues are very serious. Let’s think about an IRA you have that is funded online, valued at $150K — enough to support your surviving partner for 2 years in assisted living. What if no one knows it exists? It will sit untouched earning interest while your partner moves into cheaper living arrangements. Most unclaimed property ultimately goes to the states and remains unclaimed.

Think this is an uncommon problem? The amount of pain to so many beneficiaries is made clear by the fact that unclaimed property in the U.S. is estimated to be over $59 billion. People like you who assumed their legacy was all planned out are part of those tragic numbers. Is that what you want?

What about the vast online world where we conduct our daily digital lives? Think of all the assets you have that are handled only online. Take the small example of the Amazon credit you have for $263.00 waiting to be spent. When you aren’t around, no one will ever even think to check your online store account so this money isn’t wasted. They

1) Who knows how to access your will and other plans in case of an emergency?

2) Who is your backup if that person is no longer capable of handling things?

3) Are all your directions confidential until the right people need to know?

4) If they are kept confidential, how and when will the right people find them?

5) Where are they stored so they’ll be found when they need to be (but only by thosewho should)?

won’t even know you have an Amazon account. Now, take that example and expand it to things that really matter. What about bank accounts, financial statements, IRAs and insurance policies? You probably went paperless years ago. They could support someone you care about for a very long time, but not if the beneficiary does not know they exist.

What about your Facebook account, and your cloud storage account with all of the family photos and videos? And finally, where is the list of all the people you would want to be contacted if something happened? It’s on your password-protected phone. Everything you have and want to pass along, especially time-sensitive items, may be inaccessible, perhaps permanently.

Finding it all too overwhelming? LegacyShield is a comprehensive platform for handling all these scattered issues. We easily guide you along each step of the way. Let LegacyShield help you prepare.

Where does LegacyShield step in? At the highest level, LegacyShield is a complete legacy and estate platform that provides the ability to safely and securely create, store, and share all of your most important information today, tomorrow and anytime you aren’t able. From your legal documents and insurance policies to your digital security, all the way down to the sentimental and the personal such as pictures and stories.

Beyond central storage, LegacyShield’s most important feature is the “alert” system. At the point that something happens to you, the individual(s) designated by you will notify the system. That notification is authenticated, and then your designated recipients will receive whatever specific information you have pre-determined. This is the key feature of the LegacyShield system. All the planning in the world is pointless if no one knows where to find the plan, or even that a plan exists.

Here are the 4 key building blocks for complete legacy planning:

My Secure VaultA secure, central location to safeguard any document, from your most important legal and financial docs to your car registration papers. Easily locate them, nominate other people to access them as required, and help loved ones find them after you’re gone.

Life AdministrationAll your passwords and accounts may need to be accessed by others. Create an administrative control center so that access to all your online accounts and other information you use daily to run your life can be easily transitioned — not lost forever!

My WishesMake sure that all the right people know exactly what you want when you’re gone — avoiding potential misunderstandings, confusion and conflict. Communicate your final wishes without uncomfortable discussions — so that nobody is left in doubt.

My Life StoriesEnsure all your intangible assets are passed down; life stories, memories, and values are just as important to your legacy as material assets. Preserve and share what you have collected over your lifetime, from your favorite memories and tales to family traditions and recipes.

There’s moreIf you are concerned you don’t have the knowledge to build some of the formal documents necessary, LegacyShield’s Prep and Builder solutions offer templates for wills, POAs and health care directives. Builder offers more advanced templates if you have business ventures or real estate.

Just knowing that there is a hand to guide you through all of this takes away the “intimidation factor” from this project we’d all rather avoid.

That’s what LegacyShield is all about.
