Mary Ann Leatherwood Mercer, age 71, resident of Moscow and wife of the late James Wallace “Jim” Mercer, Jr., departed this life Wednesday morning, January 3, 2018 at her residence.

Mrs. Mercer was born October 27, 1946 in Moscow, Tennessee. She received her education in the Fayette County School System, moved to South Georgia and then returned to the Moscow area. She was an active member of the Forty-Five Baptist Church in earlier years. Mrs. Mercer enjoyed gardening, painting, caring for others and will be remembered for the love she cherished for her family members and friends.

Mrs. Mercer is survived by two sons, Jon Mercer (Crystal) of Manassas, VA, Cory Mercer of Jacksonville, FL and her sister, Kay Leatherwood of Moscow, TN.

She was preceded in death by her husband who she married on July 29, 1969, James Wallace “Jim” Mercer, Jr. who died July 24, 2010; her parents, Gurtis Leatherwood and Juanita Tacker Leatherwood; and her son, Trey Mercer who died in 1979.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the ASPCA, P.O. Box 96929, Washington, D.C. 20090-6929.
