Early Years Learning Centre Can we already believe it’s week 4? The students have all settled extremely well into their new classes and I thank the parents for all their support and engagement with the classes, especially though Meet the Teacher evening. Our Prep/Foundation students will next week (week 5) commence their first full week of school. Please send your children to school every day. Please ensure if your child is going to be away you contact your child’s classroom teacher or the general office. As stipulated by the Department of Education, we do need to call every day to follow up a child’s absence from school. Students Individual Learning Plans will be sent home in week 7 and week 8 for prep students. These are a plan that is done in collaboration with parents around setting out learning goals and targets for students to work towards throughout the year. We encourage all families to make themselves available for Student Support Group meetings which are scheduled for later this term. Teachers will contact families regarding these. Swimming week will occur throughout week 6 and 7. Parents are encouraged to sign permission notes as soon as possible and return to school. If you would like to attend to support the swimming program, please speak to your child’s classroom teacher or myself regarding the volunteer protocols of the school. Middle Years
GROUPS 39, 40, 41 & 42It’s week four and the staff and students of PLT 2 have really enjoyed getting to know each other during the past month, I hope everyone else has also! Meet the Teacher night was very successful for our PLT, what a supportive parent community we have this year. In literacy, we have been reading, listening to and discussing the books ‘Who Sunk The Boat?’ and ‘Mix It Up’. During our Science inquiry lessons, the students have been
engaging in many exciting experiments including the lemon volcano experiment, the sink or float experiment and the mixing
colours experiment. Hope everyone enjoys the upcoming week. We are very exited for swimming in weeks six and seven!
MultimediaWelcome to week 4 everybody! It has been a great start to the term so far and all students have settled in well. A big thankyou to all the parents/ carers who came to Meet the Teacher night last Thursday. All of the teachers in Multimedia enjoyed meeting the parents of the students in their class. Swimming week is coming up in weeks 6 and 7. Notes have been sent home
so please sign and return to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. If you would like to come down to the pool during swimming week let your child’s teacher know so they can let you know what time slot your child will be in and so that you can register as a volunteer and have your Working With Children’s Check recorded. Hope you all have a great week!Olivia
BRC NewsOur Year 10 students returned from Urban Camp on Friday afternoon exhausted but excited to share their stories. Students visited the MCG, Melbourne Jail, Lego Education Centre and explored new foods and smells on the Vietnamese Education Walk. Thank you to the staff who made this possible for our students. This camp is always a good introduction to travel education and exploring our community.
Tuesday evening saw Later Years host the Meet the Teacher evening and what a turn out we had. Thank you to all families who attended the evening. It was great to meet our new families but also maintain communication with our current families.
On Friday 22nd February there was a curriculum day
for Later Years students. On this professional learning day, we were upskilling our teachers to assist students to be job ready.
All students have settled into their electives and social enterprise classes smoothly. Students will remain in these classes until the end of semester 2. I look forward to sharing their work with you throughout the year.

BRC Years 8 & 9 NewsThis week at BRC the students have been settling in very well and have been taking part in their electives and social enterprise programs. Last week a group of students went with Jess to interschool sports. They competed in cricket and played extremely well. Throughout the week, each of the classes have been working on nominating SRC (Student Representative Council) members for each classroom by presenting their campaign posters to their peers and voting.
In English the students are learning to write about their personal information so they can write it into their CAPs (Career Action Plan) plans. They have been exploring what they would like to do in the future, exploring what type of learners they are and
also thinking about what CAPs goals they would like for the English and Maths goals.
In Maths, students have been focusing on ‘Substituting’ and working on tasks throughout the week.
Thank you to all of the parents who attended the Meet the Teacher night at BRC last Tuesday. It was great to have the opportunity to meet everyone who came along.

Cayleys News
VCAL NewsThe VCAL students have begun their programs with the support of the VCAL staff. Most students are off campus for two or three days a week. These programs are hands on opportunities to learn about work environments, planning and organising, communication and team work.
Students have been learning about team work at school as well by participating in a newspaper tower challenge.
Over the next two weeks the Year 11 students from VCAL have the opportunity to experience sailing on a Sydney to Hobart winning race yacht.
The yacht is crewed by volunteers who instruct the students on how to safely enter and exit a yacht, steer and perform tacks. This week the first group of students got
to experience this great opportunity. Students said that it was the opposite of driving a car as you had to stay right not left. Some students were a little concerned at first but the crew put all the students ease with all students participating at some level. Karen MacDonough, VCAL

If you have a school iPad that goes home each night, weekends and holidays we would like to remind families that you have signed an agreement to take responsibility for the school owned iPad and all costs associated with breakages that occur after school hours.
Due to the technological enhancement of iPads, costs for repairs now vary between $120 and $200. The cost for a breakage is only identified when an iPad is sent to the repairers and school is charged.
If you wish to see a copy of your signed agreement to remind you of your obligations and responsibilities please request a copy of this through your child’s teacher.
Thankyou
