Graphic display with small leak detected by passive acoustic
system.
The right systems for your leak-detection and pipeline integrity
needs.
Our technologies reveal extremely low concentrations of
hydrocarbons and minute traces of dye and organic compounds,
providing early detection of even the smallest leaks. And fast,
efficient inspections reduce standby costs for high-priced
construction spreads.
Weatherfords independent leak-detection systems are capable of
finding extremely small leaks, regardless of pipeline product,
water current, visibility or even minimal pressure differential
conditions.
Early detection helps maintain pipeline integrity and avoids
serious failures after commissioning that can result in suspended
production, environmental damage and costly repairs. The sooner you
know where the problem is, the sooner you can take corrective
action to get your pipeline back online. The sensitivity,
versatility and speed of our systems help minimize exposure to
expensive marine construction repair spreads and contribute
directly to your bottom line.

Dye-detector systems provide maximum leak-detection performance
regardless of water clarity or current. Deployable by ROVs or held
by a diver, the systems can detect traces of dye as small as 1 part
per billion (ppb). Colored or clear fluorescein dyes can be used
based on specific needs.
Applications:
Close-up inspections of accessible potential leak paths
Difficult-to-access fittings within large or complex subsea
components using extended-range sensors
Long pipelines at optimal ROV speeds New construction or
following in-service
system repairs
Programmable mass spectrometers gather continuous samples along
pipeline routes or near subsea assemblies to determine the presence
of compounds with an atomic mass of 1 to 150. Measurements are in
real time, and the system can be preprogrammed to search for
specific compounds. It is capable of detecting trace hydrocarbon as
small as 1 ppb.
Applications:
Specific volatile compound searches Hydrocarbon contamination
mapping in seafloor soils Buried broken pipeline and leaking well
identification
The Didson active-acoustic system sends near-video-quality,
black-and-white images to the surface. The system can detect tiny
gas or oil bubbles in the water column at distances of up to
several meters regardless of water clarity. It minimizes risk
associated with diving operations, enhancing safety during
construction and salvage jobs.
Applications:
Gas or oil bubble water column detection Post-hurricane pipeline
and structure inspection Surrogate for ROV optical cameras in
zero-
visibility conditions
BigEars passive acoustic systems can be deployed on remotely
operated vehicles (ROVs) or by divers and can hear acoustic energy
emitted when liquid or gas seeps through a defect or leak path.
Water clarity is not an issue, and background noise is eliminated
from the display using sophisticated calibration techniques.
Applications:
New construction or in-service systems Internal bypass in
in-line valves and reverse
leak detection
With dye detectors or as standalone when dye is not an
option
