LEADERS’ NEWS News this week has centred around negotiations between the AEU and the Government for improved conditions and salary for Education staff. The state-wide vote to strike was endorsed at our site, and Union members are expected to strike on Monday, 1 st July. As a result, half of our teachers won’t be at school. Due to OSHC undergoing major change with Dennis’s last day today and Malanie returning from long service leave into the acting Director role on Monday, we have made the decision to remain open and provide a modified programme to students who attend school. Be aware that your child’s teacher may not be at school and students will be supervised and cared for with a different routine than usual. Our Year 2 classes will proceed with their excursion to the Wetlands. This is our last Newsletter for the term, and next term Council have approved a trial of new forms of communication. Newsletter will be published in weeks 3, 6 and 9, and an online digital calendar will be available on our school website, updated weekly with current dates. SkoolBag app will be a major form of communication related to notes, excursions and updates, and Seesaw continues to be the preferred 2-way communication between teachers and families, specifically related to your child and learning plans/curriculum information. Qkr is an easy way to pay money to the school, and Jen has added details as to how to get the app later in this Newsletter. Still lots of options but we are trying to streamline the process so you know where to look for what! Feedback is always welcome. Written Reports will be sent home with your student next Wednesday. Please take time to read and discuss with your child, and ask questions relating to language you may not understand (your child probably does!), areas for growth and successes. I have enjoyed reading all reports and believe teachers have been honest and positive with their feedback, with all information provided useful for you to understand where your child sits academically and socially. Now is a great time to meet with the teacher if you have any questions or concerns. Enjoy a relaxing holiday from next week. Once again, farewell and thank you to Dennis for his dedication and service to EPS OSHC. Thanks to our Year 3and 4 teachers and parents for a challenging and rewarding camp experience. SCHOOL SPORT
NETBALL NEWS Year 6 – B2 Well done girls, you all played so well. We lost by 2 goals. Keep up the team work. Absent: Maya
Coaches: Vanitha and Bec SOCCER NEWS Senior Gold vs St Peter's Woodlands Senior Gold were fortunate to play on the amazing playing fields of St Peter's Woodlands on Sat June 15. with a few regulars away we had good support from the other senior team. It was another very even performance from the players with many great examples of team play. St Peter's Woodlands had some fine players and they were up in the early stages of the game but EPS stepped up as the game progressed. Final score was 8-4 to EPS. First goal was by Skilton who was on the end of series of passes from Kyran and Josh A. Josh A then got his first 'Saturday' goal in school soccer fed beautifully by Charlie B. Charlie B then had his turn in a play set up by Oliver McQueen, to Josh A and Charlie followed up a fumble by the keeper. Oliver McQ then had the first of his 2 goals set up by a great pass from Ahura. Josh S then had a fantastic goal following an accurate throw-in by Charlie B to Ben who passed through. Ben then had his goal set up by Albert (Bert) and Josh S. Oliver McQueen had his second goal following a free kick in the box. Finally Luka kicked a very solid goal after a great pass by Charlie B. There were many other great plays and strong defence that are too numerous to list here. Special mention to Charlie W who was superb in goals in the second half, Harry who did a great job in defence and in the midfield and Ash who did a great job forward and in defence. Thanks to John McQ for lines and David for stats! - Scott Polley
EPS STRING ORCHESTRA from Anne Rodda
On Thursday 13th June violin, viola and cello students from Edwardstown and many surrounding primary schools gathered in the theatre at Blackwood High School for a String Orchestra Workshop. We played for the whole morning under the guidance of several Department for Education String Teachers. It was a wonderful morning of playing with other like minded students, learning new skills and information about string playing. One of the Blackwood High School students played a solo on her violin and the morning concluded with a concert for parents and families that was very much enjoyed by all. Anne Rodda - Teacher of Strings
LIBRARY FUN Hogwart’s Mania is coming to a close and we have had lots of fun in the Library. From week 5 onwards we have been making Bowtruckles, Golden Snitches, Marauder’s Maps as well as students participating in the Harry Potter Lego Challenge, with some great pieces being constructed. Our trivia participants were amazing with their knowledge of the Harry Potter Books. Congratulations to The Cursed Children (Lily and Potter People (Amber, Sukie, Millie & Summer) who tied with 47 correct answers out of 50. There is a competition running in the Library, so come in and grab a form and let me know how many items there are relating to Harry Potter. Next Term: We will be celebrating book week as well as having our annual Scholastics Book Fair.

SAPSASA NEWS
In late April early May 2019, I trialed to be a part of the City South district in the South Australian Primary Schools Amateur Sports Association - SAPSASA - State Netball Competition. After going to 8 nail-biting trials they announced the squad. This group consisted of 20 girls from schools all over our district. I was lucky enough to be included in the 20 selected. On the 17th of June we played 2 games to start the 4 days of Netball. Over those four days my team played 9 full games of netball. I played GD, GK and WD. In total we won 6 out of the 9 games. On the last day we played 2 games and won them both. After our last game we had presentations my team came 3rd overall. This was an amazing experience and I would recommend for others to try out for this experience. It has helped me to grow in my netball skills and to meet lots of different girls and develop friendships. Millie Bell
Jensen was selected in the City South Football team that competed at the 2019 SAPSASA
State Football Carnival (Division 1) held at Barratt Reserve, West Beach from June 17th
– Thursday June 20th. Originally he was first reserve but due to injury he was rewarded
with a position in the 22 selected players. This was a massive achievement in itself given
the volume of players who tried out and the strength of the City South team. Throughout
the 4 day tournament Jensen was used as a utility playing forward, back and even in the
mid-field. Overall it was a very successful week for the City South team who won the
championship going through the week undefeated – an incredible 9-0 record!
Congratulations to Jensen and the rest of the boys for a fantastic effort.
