Important Safety Precautions
Electricity is used to perform many useful functions, but it can also cause personal injuries and propertydamage if improperly handled. Toensure your safety and prolong the service life of your LCD colour TV product, please read the followingprecautions carefully before using the product.
1. Read instructions—All operating instructions must be read and understood before the product is operated.
2. Keep this manual in a safe place—These safety and operating instructions must be kept in a safe place forfuture reference.
3. Observe warnings—All warnings on the product and in the instructions must be observed closely.
4. Follow instructions—All operating instructions must be followed.
5. Attachments—Do not use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer. Use of inadequate attachmentscan result in accidents.
6. Power source—This product must operate on a power source specified on the specification label. If you arenot sure of the type of power supply used in your home, consult your dealer or local power company.
7. AC cord protection—The AC cords must be routed properly to prevent people from stepping on them orobjects from resting on them. Check the cords at the plugs and product.
8. Overloading—Do not overload AC outlets or extension cords. Overloading can cause fire or electric shock.
9. Entering of objects and liquids—Never insert an object into the product through vents or openings. Highvoltage flows in the product, and inserting an object can cause electric shock and/or short internal parts. Forthe same reason, do not spill water or liquid on the product.
10. Servicing—Do not attempt to service the product yourself. Removing covers can expose you to high voltageand other dangerous conditions. Request a qualified service person to perform servicing.
11. Repair—If any of the following conditions occur, unplug the AC cord from the AC outlet, and request a qualifiedservice person to perform repairs.
a. When the AC cord or plug is damaged.b. When a liquid was spilled on the product or when objects have fallen into the product.c. When the product has been exposed to rain or water.d. When the product does not operate properly as described in the operating instructions.
Do not touch the controls other than those described in the operating instructions. Improper adjustmentof controls not described in the instructions can cause damage, which often requires extensive adjustmentwork by a qualified technician.
e. When the product has been dropped or damaged.f. When the product displays an abnormal condition. Any noticeable abnormality in the product indicates
that the product needs servicing.
12. Replacement parts—In case the product needs replacement parts, make sure that the service person usesreplacement parts specified by the manufacturer, or those with the same characteristics and performance asthe original parts. Use of unauthorized parts can result in fire, electric shock and/or other danger.
13. Safety checks—Upon completion of service or repair work, request the service technician to perform safetychecks to ensure that the product is in proper operating condition.

Important Safety Precautions
• Cleaning—Unplug the AC cordfrom the AC outlet before cleaningthe product. Use a damp cloth toclean the product. Do not useliquid cleaners or aerosolcleaners.
• Stand—Do not place the producton an unstable cart, stand, tripodor table. Doing so can cause theproduct to fall, resulting in seriouspersonal injuries as well asdamage to the product. Use onlya cart, stand, tripod, bracket ortable recommended by themanufacturer or sold with theproduct. When mounting theproduct on a wall, be sure tofollow the manufacturer’sinstructions. Use only themounting hardware recommendedby the manufacturer.
• When relocating the productplaced on a cart, it must bemoved with utmost care. Suddenstops, excessive force anduneven floor surface can causethe product to fall from the cart.
• Water and moisture—Do not usethe product near water, such asbathtub, washbasin, kitchen sink,laundry tub, swimming pool and ina wet basement.
• Ventilation—The vents and otheropenings in the cabinet aredesigned for ventilation. Do notcover or block these vents andopenings since insufficientventilation can cause overheatingand/or shorten the life of theproduct. Do not place the producton a bed, sofa, rug or other similarsurface, since they can blockventilation openings. This productis not designed for built-ininstallation; do not place theproduct in an enclosed placesuch as a bookcase or rack,unless proper ventilation isprovided or the manufacturer’sinstructions are followed.
• The LCD panel used in thisproduct is made of glass.Therefore, it can break when theproduct is dropped or impactapplied. If the LCD panel isbroken be careful not to be injuredby broken glass.
• Heat sources—Keep the productaway from heat sources such asradiators, heaters, stoves andother heat-generating products(including amplifiers).
• Do not place vases or any otherwater-filled containers on thisproduct.The water may spill onto theproduct causing fire or electricshock.
• To prevent fire, never place anytype of candle or naked flames onthe top or near the TV set.
• To prevent fire or shock hazard,do not place the AC power cordunder the TV set or other heavyitems.
The LCD panel is a very high technology productwith 1,229,760 thin film transistors, giving you finepicture details.Due to the very large number of pixels,occasionally a few non-active pixels may appearon the screen as a fixed point of blue, green orred.This is within product specifications and does notconstitute a fault.

Preparation
Inserting the batteries
Before using the System for the first time, insert two “AA” size batteries (supplied) into the remote control. When thebatteries become depleted and the remote control fails to operate, replace the batteries with new “AA” size batteries.
Using remote control
Use the remote control by pointing it towards the remote sensorwindow of the main unit. Objects between the remote control andsensor window may prevent proper operation.
Cautions regarding use of remote control Do not expose the remote control to shock. In addition, do not
expose the remote control to liquids, and do not place it in an areawith high humidity.
Do not install or place the remote control under direct sunlight.The heat may cause deformation of the unit.
The remote control may not work properly if the remote sensorwindow is under direct sunlight or strong lighting. In such a case,change the angle of the lighting or main unit, or operate theremote control closer to the remote sensor window.

First installation
When you turn on the LCD TV set for the first time, the First installation routine, which makes installation easier, isactivated. Using this routine, you can select the on-screen display language, and automatically search for andstore all the receivable channels.
Press the MAIN POWER switch.The “First installation (Language)”screen with a list of the languagesfor the on-screen display appears.
Press a/b/c/d to select thedesired language, and then pressOK. The “First installation(Automatic search)” screenappears in the language selected.
Press a/b to select the desiredadjustment item, and then pressOK. Then press c/d to select thedesired item.
Press a/b to select “Start search”.

Virgin mode
Digital Video Broadcasting is a transmission scheme. It is much more than a simple replacement for existinganalogue television transmission. DVB provides more stations, clearer picture quality and other services tobe displayed on screen. It also allows a range of new features and services including subtitling and multipleaudio tracks.
For viewing digital broadcasts, please follow the procedure below to set up.• In DTV mode, some menu items displayed in black cannot be selected.
Press DTV to switch to the DTVmode.
Press a/b to select the countrywhere you are located.When you cannot find the countryyou live in, select the country fromthe list which shares the same timezone.
Press OK to enter the setting.• Installation screen displays.
Press OK to go to the next step.
Press a/b to select “Servicescan”, and then press OK.• Search screen displays.
Press OK, and Search finds all thedigital broadcasting channelsviewable in your area.• The Search menu disappears and
you can watch the programme.

• If you exit DTV mode while Virgin mode is still incomplete, go back to step 1 and try it again.

Turning the main power on and off

Turn on the power of the connected videoequipment.

You can select channels using 0 – 9 or CH a/b.
• To handle the increasing number of channels available, this LCD TV set allows youto select up to 200 channels (0 to 199).

How to use p (DISPLAY/INFO) button (for TV/DTV)Analogue TV: Display the programme number and time.Digital TV: Display the programme information.
You can display the time information included in the Teletext. Follow the stepsbelow to display the time.
Select a TV channel providing Teletextinformation.(The time information is automaticallycaptured.)

Press p. The channel display will appear onthe Display.
Press p again within the three-second intervalthe channel display is on the screen.Time information will display on the lower left ofthe screen for about three seconds.
Even when you change the TV channel, youcan display the time information with steps 2 –3 above.
NOTE
• The time is not captured when a selected channel hasno Teletext information.

• The time display cannot be stored once the power isturned off. When you turn on the power, perform steps1 – 4 again.
NOTE
• If receiving a digital broadcast, you can only display the time by performing steps 2 and 3below.

Troubleshooting Before calling for repair services, make the following checks for possible remedies to the symptoms encountered.
• No power.
• Unit cannot be operated.
• Remote control unit does notoperate.
• Picture is cut off.
• Strange colour, light colour, ordark, or colour misalignment.
• Power is suddenly turned off.
• No picture.
• No sound.
Problem Possible Solution
• Check if you pressed B on the remote control unit. (See page 13.)If the indicator on the Display lights up red, press B.
• Is the AC cord disconnected? (See page 6.)• Has the main power been turned on? (See page 13.)
• External influences such as lightning, static electricity, etc., may cause improperoperation. In this case, operate the unit after first turning the power off the LCDTV unit, or unplugging the AC cord and re-plugging it in after 1 or 2 minutes.
• Are batteries inserted with polarity (e, f) aligned? (See page 5.)• Are batteries worn out? (Replace with new batteries.)• Are you using it under strong or fluorescent lighting?• Is a fluorescent light illuminated to remote control sensor?
• Is the image position correct? (See page 44.)• Are screen mode adjustments such as picture size made correctly? (See page
