The Lazy H Ranch in Central Colorado consists of over 4,000 acres some of the best hun ng and shing in

The North Fork Gunnison River(locally known as the NorthFork) is a tributary of theGunnison River, approximate-ly 25 miles long, in south-western Colorado. It drainspart of the southwesternflank of the Elk Mountainsnortheast of Delta. It isformed in the mountains of
northwestern GunnisonCounty and follows alongState Highway 133 on thesouth side of McClure Pass.It descends to the southwesternthrough a widening valley past Somerset, Paonia, and Hotchkiss. TheNorth Fork joins the Gunnison River in eastern Delta County, just down-
stream from the famous Black Canyon. The valley of the river, called theNorth Fork Valley, has a temperate climate that has historically been acenter of fruit growing in Southwestern Colorado. This healthy river ishome to a large number of German Brown and Rainbow Trout. Trout inthis section average 14-20 inches with fish over 2 feet long alwayslurking in the shadows. Perhaps one of the most prolific and anticipatedinsect hatches in the country occurs in the on the North Fork of the
Gunnison and Gunnison Rivers. The Giant Salmonfly hatch normallyoccurs in June when the water temperature rises to about 50 degrees.The hatch begins at the confluence with the North Fork and movesupstream. If timed correctly, dry-fly fishing with Stoneflies andStimulators is about as much fun as one can have! Luckily, the Lazy HRanch is positioned perfectly for the start of this epic trout fishingevent.
