He is one of the most famous artists of the 20 th Century and is well known for the variety of styles used in his work. Picasso, along with George Braque, invented Cubism. In Cubist art, objects are analyzed, taken apart, and reassembled in an abstracted form. Early cubism is known as Analytic Cubism. In Analytic Cubism, objects are depicted from several viewpoints at the same time. An example of Analytic Cubism is Picasso’s Violin and Candle. Cubism is when an artist deconstructions a form – imagine taking apart a face and putting all the pieces in a blender, then putting the face back together. Eyes don’t always look the same, noses may not be where we expect them to be. Pablo Picasso, Violin and Candle, 1910 Pablo Picasso, Three Musicians, 1921
