Hannah Winstone, Soccer and Kenny Arnold, XC This week we are proud to recognize junior defender Hannah Winstone and senior cross-country runner Kenny Arnold. Winstone has started every game and has logged the most minutes on the team this season. She has helped the Wildcats to 7 shutouts and was a key contributor in the Wildcats’ run to the Marion County finals, scoring the game clinching penalty kick in the North Central win. Arnold ran over a minute faster than he did a year ago at the Marion County XC championships, helping the Wildcats to a strong 4th place finish. These two are the definition of “student-athlete” as both have GPA’s well over 4.0. Great job, Hannah and Kenny!
Cheerleading/Student Fans: The LN cheerleaders and dance team combined for a great half-time performance at the Homecoming game against Warren Central. Great job, Wildcat cheer & dance!
Cross Country: The XC teams put in some great performances at the Marion County XC championships on Saturday. Kenny Arnold and Mary Watts were the runners of the meet for the Wildcats due to their impressive efforts. The boys finished in 4th place and the girls finished in 3rd. All-Marion County spots were earned by Maddie Loughery, Grace Dean, Matt Reid, and Nick Petroy. Great job, runners!
Football: The Wildcats (2-5, 0-5 MIC) lost to Warren Central (4-3, 3-2 MIC). Conner Benson hit a 30-yard field goal for the Wildcats. The Cats look to get back on track this Friday night as they take on the Center Grove Trojans. Photos by superfan Alanna Ampil and Jared Rigdon.
Boys Soccer: The soccer team (3-10-2) beat Park Tudor 2-1 in the opening round of the Marion County tournament, then lost to North Central in the quarter-final round. The Cats will take on Franklin Central on Wednesday to open up the IHSAA sectional tournament at Arsenal Tech. Here is the IHSAA sectional draw: http://www.ihsaa.org/Portals/0/ihsaa/documents/news%20media/2017-18/092417.SoccerDraw.pdf Photos by Jared Rigdon.
Girls Soccer: The girls team (8-7-3) had a great run in the Marion County tournament! The girls beat Park Tudor 5-1, took down rival North Central 1-1 (4-3 PK’s) and then Franklin Central 1-0 to reach the Marion County championship game for the first time since 2009. The team lost in the championship game to nationally ranked and defending state champion Brebeuf, but the team is really starting to gel and play well together as they head toward sectional. The Cats will host the IHSAA sectional tournament this week, starting this Tuesday against Perry Meridian at 7:30pm. Here is the tournament draw: http://www.ihsaa.org/Portals/0/ihsaa/documents/news%20media/2017-18/092417.SoccerDraw.pdf Photos by Jared Rigdon.
Boys Tennis: The tennis team (9-6), captured their 7th straight IHSAA sectional title, beating Heritage Christian 4-1 and then Lawrence Central 4-1 in the championship match. The Cats will play New Palestine in the regional this Tuesday at North Central High School. Photo by Mr. Penrose.
Volleyball: The volleyball team (10-14, 3-2 MIC) lost to #1 Zionsville and then went 2-1 in the Marion County tourney, beating Lutheran and North Central before falling to Roncalli in the semi-finals. The team will take on North Central in a MIC match up at home on Tuesday and then will host the Wildcat Invitational on Saturday. Photos by Jared Rigdon.
