Throw-in awarded to opponents of the player who last touched the ball

DEFINITION – THROW-INSOMEONE has ALWAYS touched the ball last – it’s your

job to decide who it was

REQUIREMENTS

Restart from where ball crossed line (within 1 yard – up, down, or back)

Face field of play Have part of each foot either on the touch

line or on the ground outside the touch line Use both hands Throw ball from behind and over the head

REQUIREMENTS

Restart from point where ball crossed line (within 1 yard – up, down, or back)

Face field of play Have part of each foot either on the touch

line or on the ground outside the touch line Use both hands Throw ball from behind and over the head

Can a player who has the use of only one hand do a throw-in? Yes.

Referee or assistant referee should indicate place from which the throw-in should be taken

This doesn’t mean that you have to point every time

Thrower plays ball second time before ball touches another player “two touch” - IFK to opponents

Can a goal be scored directly from throw-in? No, it must touch another player before a

legal goal can be scored Are opponents allowed to interfere?

No, opponents must be 2 yards from the thrower – being closer or interfering even if farther away than 2 yards is cautionable
