A message from our Principal… Good afternoon everyone! Another action packed week at Lavington Public School. This week we’ve had all of our staff attend professional development in our PBL Program. A refresher for some of our existing parents and carers – PBL stands for Positive Behaviour for Learning.

It is one part of our whole school approach towards Student Wellbeing, reinforcing the positive choices our students make. Students are

recognised in many ways. It can be as simple as a thumbs up or hi 5, verbal feedback, sticker charts that contribute to participation in awards days, merit awards on assemblies or representing our school in a variety of extra-curricular activities. Lavington Public School is an awesome place to be! This week I’ve also been given a heads up about a Fundraiser for one of our families. On Sunday March 4th, there is a Family Fun Day to raise funds for Aaron and Brianna Livermore. Brianna has recently been diagnosed with a stage 3 melanoma. The location is the Urana Road Oval and the day begins at 1pm. There will be a variety of kids’ activities, men vs women netball game, auctions, a barbecue available and beverages for sale. It would be great to see as many families down there to support the cause! For more information, please call Kim Gooden on 0447 181 654. Don’t forget our P & C Meeting on Monday evening at 7:30pm. The location is in our new staffroom (in the office building).

WHITE CROSS MOBILE DENTAL CARE A flyer has been sent home with students today giving information regarding White Cross Mobile Dental Care who will be visiting our school during Week 11 (9 April – 13 April). Children will receive a free comprehensive examination and procedures (as listed on the flyer) under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule. If you would like your child to participate in this free dental assessment and treatment (as outlined in the flyer), please ensure the ‘Child Dental Benefits Schedule Bulk Billing Patient Consent Form’ is completed (both sides), and returned to the school office by Thursday 29 March. Parents are advised there is no obligation for their child to attend this service. STUDENT BANKING Hume Bank is once again conducting the School Student Banking program. Every Tuesday morning students can place their banking deposit wallet in the class bag which is collected and delivered to Hume Bank. Generally the wallets are returned to students the following day. Existing Hume Bank account holders can also access this savings program. Simply call into the school office and ask for a Student Banking Envelope. CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY Our school will once again participate in the Clean Up Australia Day campaign and this year we will be holding our day on Friday 2 March. The whole school will be involved, with our K-2 students concentrating their efforts within the school grounds whilst our Years 3-6 students will focus on the local street areas close to school.

ALL students are asked to bring and wear gardening/rubber gloves and a plastic bag to collect rubbish. Only the Years 3-6 students will need to return

the consent note to their class teachers to leave the school grounds.
