Designer Living Kitchens Designer Living Kitchens’ workshop in Port Macquarie was burnt to the ground on March 1st. What has happened since then? * Saturday 1st we called all our employees, suppliers, builders, insurance broker to break the bad news of our factory burning down early hours Saturday morning. * Sunday 2nd, 10.20am the insurance company, detectives and forensic flew in from Sydney to see the damage and find the cause of the fire. By 12.30pm Sunday the forensic and detectives found the cause due to a power failure on an electrical outlet. * Monday 3rd, 9.00am all staff were called to a meeting at Designer Living Kitchens’ Laurieton branch where all our 45 employees were told their jobs were safe and the business will run as per normal. 10.00am was our first delivery from our supporting suppliers Laminex and Polytech so our tradesmen could rebuild their benches, trolleys, shelving and racking. Administration staff was sent to Mid Coast Internet at Port Macquarie as David had set up 10 computers ready for them to continue with orders and drawing - our server was backed-up off-site and we only lost Friday’s trading so staff could continue as normal. * Tuesday 4th, 7am employees continued working with building, painting doors and processing orders. Owners Jamie and Todd Barnes went to Newcastle and visited the factory we have outsourced our work to, to confirm manufacturing was underway and they were very impressed with their work. * Wednesday 5th, 7am staff continued working 120%. Jamie and Todd had a meeting with our insurance company about rebuilding the factory. * Thursday 6th, 7am, truck drivers went to Newcastle to pick up and deliver our first lot of kitchens. Jamie and Todd looked for new premises at Port Macquarie and found our new location, where we should be back up and running within weeks. * Friday 7th, Jamie and Todd ordering equipment ready for delivery next week to our new premises. We would like to say a BIG thank you to all our supporting clients ,suppliers, builders, eagle insurance, local kitchen manufactures, and IT support David from Mid coast internet for working over the weekend to have admin staff and our tradesmen back working as per normal trading on Monday we cant say how much your support has meant to us. To all the fire fighters we take our hats off to you all and one big thank you for your hard efforts who worked extremely hard to prevent the fire from spreading to other premises.
