In 1956 Timemagazine referred to Pollock as "Jackthe Dripper". His iconic paintings stretch out with thegenerosity and scale of America's Western landscapewhere the artist grew up. Pollock said that he painted"out of his conscious": the cathart ic dribbled paintreflected his troubled mind.

This book traces Pollocks career and discusses

how his loose, individual style was used as a politicalweapon in the Cold War, representing America as

the free, democratic nation. Illustrations simplify thetheory and reveal the hidden meaning behind themesh of painted lines.

100 Ideas that Changed Street StyleJosh Sims

The rst book to chronicle the ideas behind street styles of thelast 70 years

Visually led book, packed with fascinating fashion images

Examines how youth culture inuenced the catwalk

Looks at the key style tribes from rockabillies to punks, fromgoths to Japanese ganguro

100 Ideas that Changed Street Styleis a look-by-lookdissection of the key ideas that changed the way we dress from the middle of the 20th century to the present day explaining the most iconic items of clothing and howthey were worn, what the look was born of, its culturalbackground, how it was received, and how it still resonatesin fashion today.

The modern wardrobe owes its development not just tofashion designers in Paris or Milan but also to gangs andmovements brought together by a shared appreciation ofmusic, sport or a particular underground culture, anda certain style that defines membership.

These styles have rocked establishments, createdstereotypes, expressed social division as much as they haveunited people, entered the language, spread around theworld, and, above all, transformed dress for a wider public.
