Objective: I am looking for the opportunity to expand on my experience and begin my design career. I would love to work with other designers, and designers of more experience. I look forward to utilizing my skills in print, editorial and corporate design; as well as my intelligence and work ethic, to become an asset to a company; but I am also hoping to learn more about design and about myself as a designer. I am looking for the opportunity to hone my skills and build successful relationships though my abilities and ideas. Experience: MYTRAK Health System Full time Graphic Designer June 2009 – Current As the only graphic designer on staff I am responsible for all print material, packages, sell sheets, flyers, reseller packages, sales packages, trade show material, logos, websites, and corporate standards. This has been a wonderful learning experience, as I have a great deal of responsibility, and a heavy workload to manage. Tribute Magazine 7-week internship Spring 2009 While interning at Tribute Magazine, I gained invaluable experience. Not only did I have to fall into another, well established aesthetic quickly in order to be productive and useful, but also I learned how to take specific direction and criticism, and anticipate corrections to my work through experience of my manager’s expectations. Freelance 2007 - 20010 I have produced paintings on commission, as well as sold work privately. I have also worked as a freelancer for the last 4 years, designing identity plans, movie posters, promotional material etc, for clients, with whom I have had successful, lasting working relationships. In early 2009, I worked for Seneca College as a researcher for their Design for Social Change class. Education: Seneca@York Graphic Design 2004 - 2008 At Seneca I learned the professional value of creative thinking, how to structure good creative solutions and work closely with others on a deadline. I discovered a love of typography, and was encouraged to hone my natural ability in composition, colour, and illustration in the direction of professional design solutions. York University Philosophy 2001 - 2003 I have always loved to learn, and I continue to learn new things every day. Attending York University for philosophy taught me how to think critically, ask insightful questions, and articulate myself clearly and eloquently in both conversation and writing.
