DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING LATHE SHOP The Lathe shop provides necessary practical hands on training in Lathes to the B. Tech Mechanical engineering students. The laboratory has machines such as centre lathe-all geared type, centre lathe-cone pulley type, Power hacksaw and bench grinder. Apart from regular practical work, B. Tech and M.Tech students utilize this lab for carrying out their project works. The students learn how to operate the lathe. They also learn to do various operations such as turning, taper turning, knurling, countersinking, drilling, boring, external thread cutting and tapping etc. They can able to select appropriate tools for doing different operations.
