What Is LESD?

Mechanics of Back Pain

Through injury and as the spine begins to age you lose space between the spinal bones. This in turn creates tears in the outer fibres of the disc causing outward bulging and some degree of compression on the joints and nerves, thus creating pain. This is termed Degenerative Disc Disease.


-Phase One- Spinal Decompression

Spinal Decompression is a clinically proven traction based therapy achieving very high success rates

with reduction of bulging discs and subsequent pain in recent MRI studies.

This therapy cycles through distraction and relaxation phases creating a negative pressure called “vacuum effect” in the affected disc or discs.

This vacuum effect creates an influx of fluid and herniated disc material to help “re-inflate” the discs.

This also helps stimulate new circulation to damaged disc structures to aid in healing.


A Traction Based Therapy

"Decompression" itself is a "phenomenon" that takes place during a traction based treatment, that is if it is done correctly on a machine capable of accomplishing it.

The Spinal Decompression Machine computer is the key. It controls the variations in the traction pull allowing for spinal decompression and eliminating muscle guarding that is typical in conventional traction devices.

The pre-programmed patterns for ramping the amount of axial distraction up and down allow for higher levels of spinal decompression and disc re-hydration by minimizing muscle guarding. This allows for the absolute highest level of decompression to occur ensuring the most effective treatment available.

-Phase Two- Dual Class Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy is completely safe and very effective in decreasing symptoms by regenerating new cartilage, reducing inflammation and swelling around the disc and joints up to 20 times faster and providing significant pain relief.

This is helpful in sealing up the outer portions of the damaged disc in a method analogous to patching a hole in a leaky tire.
