On 5/22/71, Ambassador ROBERT C. HILL, AmericanEmbassy, Madridj Spain, advised that the above-captionedindividual had paid .a courtesy visit to -his office 'on .5/21/71.Dr. LAOTOS .claimed to, be in Spain for the purpose of reviewingFulbrigb^t scholarships. He further advised that he wasconnected with tho University ,pf California and that ^ xe wasa staunch anti-tfomraunist.
The Ambassador further advised tha LANTOS hadinformed hiia that he, LANTOS, inspite.of being a staunchanti-Communist, was able to trayeX freely to Hungary where heencountered no problems,, The Ambassador informed LANTOS thathe, the Ambassador^ although in possession of valid Hungarianvisas, was not permitted to enter Hungary in late February,1959, presumably because of his' known anti-Conuaunist J>z?siti6ri»
